So they just set a msg about a new recruitment plan? about how the workers are more then just drones, people doing people stuff of work hours?
Is this for real? didn't we just cut a few thousand people?

RIM used to hold well publicized hiring events (all bogus by the way) after major downsizings. Its all optics, for the consumption of the press (whee ... we're really not dying, really we're not ...).
@dt early on?
Yes.
If its been a while and they/we cant sort ourselves then it's officially never-getting-fixed. Bonus points for if they do transfer or hire and aren't given training/SOPs.
I imagine if they do downsize the portfolio we're having more of that before less.
I am starting to see more questions popping up on who is looking after this or that since so and so is gone. Lots of things are not getting fixed anymore.
@cw ye.
But we cut those people because they were usually tenured (aka expensive to pay) or tied to offices we want to pitch.
If OT has already gone through a FAAFO phase that's great but the great people that aren't forced are going to look at this and question if it's safe. Current people probably have the Intel to know if upskilling is worth to them or better for leaving. Especially now that we're likely to sell/reduce some parts.
Myself included. I've flat out been told my region/dept wont get seniors or leads. In my area there's literally 0 incentive to upskill beyond provided goalposts. I literally cannot sell my own department despite needing help due to everything that's off.
It’s mostly a upskill problem. A lot of the guys let’s go were older guys still support data center stuff and foreign to cloud let a lone AI. Expect more.
Typical. HR recruit externally instead of promoting people already with OT experience stating at the same time that they need people with OT product experience. Stupid, arrogant, toxic dog sh-t.
As we engaged TELUS and HPE for private , govt, cloud and AI, i assume more Canadian hirings are on plan
@ab I’m in the us and I did receive the email
@a7 not for Canada.
I am a US employee and have not received that email.
@OP I was shocked to read that email. Help us recruit great people to replace your coworkers who we "exited".
I suspect that this is for Canada and India only
