Thread regarding Nike Inc. layoffs

Volunteer for Layoff

My team was pretty much laid off in the last year’s layoff. I have since been moved to a different team and I am not liking it. It’s a new org and I don’t know anyone.

Wondering if anyone has advice on how to nudge your leadership to put you on the layoff list if you are not there already. Luckily, I am in a position where can I afford to that and I know other employees who can’t .If possible would love to take the place of anyone who is more interested in the company or needs the job.

My manager does not have any info nor does my skip. According to my manager, my skip a SD in the tech org does not know if he or his teams are safe.

No, and dirs and SDs don't get told anything about layoffs. So you'll only pi-s people off.

Sad how some are desperate to keep their jobs even battling failing mental health and there are others who are “I want to quit tell me how”…

I’ve called this out as insensitive before and it still is.

Yes yes I get you want severance but still, really?

Great to know that there are those among us, who are not so greedy, and care enough to sacrifice and help those who may need a helping hand. I wish that there were more fine folks like @OP.

not sure why people think a sacrifice can save another teammate. you volunteering might just be a +1 to the original list. also how to know this guarantees that you will make it to the list if your position is deemed critical after priority and resource alignment. what are you going to do? stay? leave? awkward!

Schedule a 15 min Touchbase meeting with your VP. They will know what it is, and will prioritize it. Just be blunt, and tell them you want out. They’ll take care of the rest. I know a few people that have done this successfully.

@b6 that doesn’t always work. I know plenty that have made it through many layoffs that do absolutely nothing, along with getting bad reviews. In the meantime those that bust their butts, get good reviews, and do what’s best for the company continue be layed off—which explains why the company is in the toilet.

report some sort of harassment
they will want to gone after that
you would be a civil liability
or claim that you are disabled and need special treatment
basically you just want to stand out in a bad way

I’m in the same boat, I told my boss that I was ready, but they (Senior Director) have not been read in. And the folks who say “just quit” can eat sh-t, I want the severance.

Bring it up to your Sr. director, they’ll share those details with people involved.
