Thread regarding Mattel Inc. layoffs

Is Mattel seriously still planning on attending NY Toy Fair in a few weeks?

Hasbro, MGA, Amazon, Walmart, Target and dozens of other companies have already said they’re not going, you know because NYC is currently posting 50,000 or so new daily cases of this new omicron COVID, you know the new strain that ignores vaccination protection and is 12x more contagious than previous variants.

How on earth is Mattel still planning on safely sending people to a crowded convention and better yet, who on Earth would want to go?! If you catch COVID while your there you’ll be stranded in quarantine in some hotel for a week or so before you’d even be able to get on an airplane.

I’m shocked really, Mattel’s been pretty good about handling the pandemic so far but this is beyond crazy to me.

Remember that time Mattel was so bad at tech that they hired a Google executive and paid her $35,000,000 to tell them they sück at tech and to stop trying to do it before bouncing after 14 months on the job?

Mattel would be the last to cancel, NYTF is our superhighway for fake tech news to steal a few headlines. Where else do we have a free captive media audience to parrot our latest BS vaporware through newspapers tech blogs and podcasts? Hologram Barbie, Aristotle, Thingmaker, all debuted to great fanfare at NYTF then just quietly died out. Anything harder than a Barbie or Hot Wheels won't ever happen. Heck, we can't even ship a simple RC car on time: https://www.cnet.com/roadshow/news/tesla-cybertruck-hot-wheels-delay/

cancelling toy fair and the money mattel is saving on not showing toys people don’t want should secure their sub par designers from being laid off for at least another 6 months. Be grateful sheeple that your bad work won’t be laughed at for another year.

mattel has been cancelled for years, toy fair on or not wouldn’t make a difference.

I don’t understand why NY is the place to host toy fair anymore? The majority of the companies are on the west cost and I’d rather be at a toy fair in cali laughing at the locals complaining that 60 degree weather was too cold than dealing with snow on the filthy streets of NYC. Besides gathering all those upper management tools together for a covid party would be a good way to thin the herd of useless overpaid executives the way sweden ki---d off their senior citizens when covid started.

Today the U.S. reported 899,441 new coronavirus cases, setting a world record, and this number only includes reported cases. How many thousands more are testing at home or not yet confirmed, unreported?
The truth is many of you reading this will likely be dead before this is all over, or if not you, then someone close to you. It's clear to me now that the vaccines have now completely failed. This is no long a pandemic of the unvaccinated, this is a pandemic of everyone. We are all going to become infected. More booster shots won't stop this, it's in God's hands now. May he have mercy on us all.

I've heard that Omicron is less dangerous by about 30%, but keep in mind that a 30% increase in infectiousness would completely offset a 30% drop in severity. And it looks like Omicron is likely way more than 30% more transmissible. 😬

Nearly a million Americans have died from Covid so far. 6000 died just yesterday from Covid. Given the high transmissibility of Omicron, we'll likely see another million deaths before this all over, and that's assuming a more deadly variant DOESN'T emerge.

But yeah, it's just a cold.

My guess is the NY Toy Fair people will call off the event, they'd literally have blood on their hands, holding a big trade show during this massive viral surge is homicidal. I'm d-mbfounded that Mattel is still planning on attending.

Yep...50,000 cases of a cold/flu. Just like every other fu----g year in human history. You people won't be happy until we're sequestered in our houses forever.

You’d be stuck in quarantine if you got lucky, stuck in a hospital bed if not so much. Sending people to NYC this winter is saying that you’re willing to accept the fact that many of them will almost certainly become infected.
