Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

RTO is an antiquated strategy

RTO is an antiquated strategy based on how the company was in 2010 not 2025. Our roles have changed as have the people, and their locations, that we all interact with. There will be no measure of success because it’s based on a belief in collaboration and nothing more. There is not a single metric that will support it. However I will lay money that sickness and absence rates will rise.

Well said, @a9+1kc3yqn6p.

Hopefully Dan will just call BS on this policy and just adopt a position based on factual evidence, not vague beliefs or assumptions and aspirations.

@n9 just work from home. Don't ask don't tell. Nobody cares

We are asked to WFH indefinitely until further notice ,
because there aren't any desks or chairs at the new office location.
What a poor planning, would the high paid executives get it right at least once ?

@fd good point…although I do know how everyone’s pets, kids, parents are doing. I love having an open plan desk that invites everyone to interrupt me, and it’s the best hearing everyone else’s Webex meetings…keeps me up to date…whether I like it or not

@f6
when was the last time you collaborated with a colleague and got an actionable result that led to positive bottom line improvement?

I'll wait...

When your face to face with someone, you show your worth, collaborate ideas and move forward with success. WFH your just a square box or number. Show your worth RTO and let’s make this company great again!!!

@cq we know your type. The one that can't think and keep asking for help on common knowledge. You are the weak link and verizon is looking for that final. For us. We been work from home over 25 years and there's a reason. We never been cut and get the little extra for working from home. You can't understand.

@c3 it would be cool

@bz proven not. Don't hate because you can't figure a job out on your own. AI will be a good thing when it replaces you.

Communication is slower with everyone WFH. It also allows people to avoid answering questions or providing help. RTO is better for MOST roles."

@b0 maybe we just don't want to talk to you. Learn how to figure things out without wasting out time. Lot more house to clean.

Do you think the company will go RTO 5 days a week?

Yup but it's a house of cards - CEOs are being pressured by industry/politicians to push RTO to generate spend and therefore tax revenue (trains, buying vehicles, gas, coffee, sandwiches, business leases etc).

The fact it plays into the CEOs hands in that it forces people to leave without a payoff if they can no longer achieve 5 days in the office is just a happy coincidence
