Thread regarding Refinitiv layoffs

Everybody I talk to mentions they are looking for a new job

I'm yet to find one person who's not planning to leave as soon as they can. What's going on here? I know things are not great but I don't think they're that bad either. Is it simply because the job market is so good right now that people don't want to miss a great opportunity to find something better? That's the only thing I can think of.

@elqs+1fynwZii isn’t it just! How low to come on a forum and troll your employees. Shocking shocking

HR are very worried with image and quite often make a lot of blunt decisions.

It is like this or like that.

I have a good advice for you, come and do the work of those you think are not usefull 😉

@cpqo+1fynwZii yeah usually even if they got 15% they will say they got the lowest amount. No one wants to make their colleagues feel bad so In reality we never know who got what. It helps the narrative to play it down and find common ground with your colleagues.

@OP+1fynwZii you are in the wrong job. Have you thought about becoming a recruitment consultant? Since everyone you speak to is looking for a new job, think of the commission you’d make placing these people into new companies. You’ve got a skill that people really open up and tell you all this stuff and you could be doing something with it 😀.

Most companies have at least 10-15% employee turnover, that’s completely normal. In LSEG that’s meaning 2500+ leavers a year. Trust me you don’t want to be in a company with no turnover, same dead wood sits around forever blocking career progression and things. Thats what TR was like, a big old boys club where they looked after each other, that all got disrupted by Blackstone and LSEG and boy do they squeal and squak about it. Anyhows, my experience is that good people don’t need to look for a new job, they are the ones turning down headhunter calls because they’ve got such a good reputation out there and have a pick of jobs they get approached for. Dead wood on the other hand……

Some are even yo-yo ing between LSEG/Refinitiv and TR. The ones I know of were useless in TR and now LSEG is taking them back after they got a payout from TR.

I know of a few that have had payouts from both TR and Refinitiv and now turned up at LSEG (and TR) You couldn't make this c**p up.

@OP+1fynwZii. You really can't understand why people are wanting to leave ?

You need to stop hiding and get out more. The place is toxic and has been for years. This is the opportunity people have been waiting for, for years.

Depends on the location but in most cases:

  1. You'll get paid more in a different company (especially when comparing starter positions)
  2. Your workload will be far more acceptable (Refinitiv is known for working their employees to a point where they become mindless drones) - this does depend on your current position as there are some people who work for an hour a day and spend the rest of their time on playing vg or renovating.
