Edward Jones explores 'hub' in India amid home office cuts

https://www.stltoday.com/news/local/business/article_81cc95f7-0e43-4a63-99fd-f91d44720096.html

"We believe this approach will strengthen our capabilities, enable around-the-clock operations and allow access to key skills at scale — while preserving our culture, quality and security standards," the company said.

Nothing like preserving your culture while moving it to the third world!

One can only assume the new partnership with Carefull was sought in the event of fraud possibly being committed by an employee(s) located in the Global Capacity Center.

@ws , only local news? International would be better. The folks overseas are horrible. Only time will tell when this "officially" backfires in their face.

@sz This company is so F'd. They want the entire ops and service division replaced by 10,000 indians. Greedy pieces of sh-t with zero common sense. I hope this sh!thole of a company keeps ending up in the local news.

Companies slowed outsourcing to India in the early 2000’s (this tells you how far behind EJ continues to be). Why? Cost reduction wasn’t as significant as expected due to local wage inflation, poor quality, customer backlash and data privacy issues galore, not to mention rampant corruption.

Today, companies automate - they aren’t outsourcing anymore. Let alone establishing “hubs” in countries like India.

What’s funnier - management is being sold this idea by McKinsey and BCG consultants who are telling them that our outsourcing partners will help us eventually automate these processes (outsource to automate). Let’s think this through…so the country who sells us cheap labor will help us automate to make that cheap labor unnecessary?

If you’re scratching your head on that, just remember that’s what Penny and her ELT are betting on.

Ship of fools, led by shifty consulting advice.

I wouldn’t say they’re “exploring”. It’s happening. They’re building it. And it’s the d-mbest decision they could be making. JA and KA are ruining this place.

Hi y’all. Colleagues and friends, we deeply understand the uncertainty and hesitation many of you are experiencing right now. This reimagined journey for all of us; including me, has been personally challenging, marked by hard difficult goodbyes, emotional departures, and yes even heavy tears which is deeply impactful. Grab and hang onto those special deep memories and never let go of what once was. This is the spirit of EJ culture which should make us all extraordinarily proud. Watching valued colleagues leave is never easy, but we have reached a critical inflection point in this important journey. The transition presents a significant opportunity to deeply extend our collaborative culture globally by welcoming new international partners and elevating friends under a ONE, unified vision.

Admittedly, this trip has hit a few small rough patches. However, we remain fully committed to what matters most: you. To demonstrate our broad commitment to navigating this change together, our future Managing Partner, DC, will be hosting a series of empathy workshops. It’ll zoom directly from our pennies on the dollar New York office. The goal is to listen with deep firsthand compassion to the perspectives of those driving our day to day operations with the utmost empathy of understanding. Please connect with your leader for scheduling and details. In closing, we ask that you remain hungry to deliver foreign impact, show humility toward those who will and have departed replaced by new foreign partner friends, and hustle towards our bold co-created mandate that we’re on the precipice of achieving because after all - “you matter”. Thank You. Now let’s go make a difference.

@b2 Remember the cyber attack we had a few months back that downed the whole network for 2 hours and not one freaking email was sent out about it? Weird huh? DLs on a bridge line scrambling to get it resolved in the middle of the day. It was memory holed because it was 99% likely tied to our involvement to our favorite 3rd World country. Don't worry, I'm sure the client data was just fine. S/

@OP we have removed founders day, Ted's principles, laid off quality associates in exchange for cheap labor, doubled down on micro management RTO tactics, and continue to shaft US based associates on their salary. Not sure what our "culture" is at this point other than we are trying remain a toxic sh!thole for all of PP's rodent to feast on until the whole thing falls apart.

@ak The average american probably wont care until they have an identity theft situation. All financial places like EDJ are sending everything overseas because they are addicted to cheap labor and dont care about the damage done. EDJ though uses (of course) the bottom rung of the contractors left over after the good ones have been picked over by deloitte. The quality has taken a massive hit, the branches see it, but they don't tell the clients this for obvious reasons.

did anyone consider the potential reaction when clients discover their personal data is easily seen by people in a 3rd world country? Do they really believe the average American will be ok with that? Do they really believe no one over there will have nefarious intentions when they realize what they have available to capitalize on?
