@cm in most of the cases every EU country handles it according to a local law. There are different approaches and formulas in Belgium, France and Germany and it is not hardcoded to a contract or EWC.
@ch I hate to say it but you are probably right. Why the company does not treat everyone the same and why do US colleagues get better severance than a U.K. employee? Why will a French, Dutch colleague get better severance than a U.K. employee?
@c6 the UK will be shafted (as usual). The package there is 1 month per year capped at 6 months, which isn't even comparable to the 3 weeks per year given to USA VSP leavers if you've been here more than 9 years.
@c7 no works council in UK which must be taking a big hit. If you are French, German etc then there’s much better protection. Not sure that voluntary redundancy is going to be offered either
No one’s being forced out right now. In every European country, strict labor laws mean you get a solid severance package if they want voluntary exits. If the offer feels too low, get a lawyer involved especially where there’s a works council and a social plan in place and you’ll likely end up with more than what VZ initially proposed
@c2 I’m worried you are correct that EMEA staff will not be treated fairly or equally as their counterparts in other regions
@c0 they try country by country to do the bare bones legal minimum.. so will be up to EWC and in country works councils to push for something better…
Wondering what the severance package will be like. The US got enhanced in November and I think the APAC people did too…but will EMEA?
If you are reading this in EMEA and think your country or your team is safe then you are delusional. There will be reductions everywhere and boy it’s going to be he-l for those left behind to fight the chao
@a1 100 percent agree
Get out now why you can.
Like in the US the market su-ks
