Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

More layoffs are to come and will most likely continue next year. :(

I had a frank talk with my manager this morning, who is a long-time friend.

Asked if I wanted a "retirement" package, as layoffs will continue until there's profit. My manager may get the cut, but will try to get me on the cut list if I want a package. VPs are dropping hints to management that this might be the last opportunity to get nominated for a package before it goes to HR formulas.

Also mentioned that there's not much future for the younger ones here at the moment, as they're offshoring much to lower-cost geos. Thus, if anyone gets a good offer, don't wait; just seize the opportunity and move on. I can't see light at the end of the tunnel for the near future.

Asked about the $5B Nvidia deal. Basically, I think it's a forced donation, and there is no clear direction on how to execute it yet—too many meetings without a runway. Our dev team is gearing up for this, but $5B won't get very far. If funds run dry, this may get moved to a lower-cost geo or ZBB.

Also, they said that there will be light at the end of the tunnel, but not in the near future, and I'm not sure how many of us will fall off the wagon as we travel along. Thus, the personal anxiety and stress may not be worth it.

@15p Please wait your turn. There's a line-up to get picked. On my team, there's at least 5 of us that wants to get picked.

Why you all looking for packages? Stock up 80% YTD. If you're that bearish you should all be long far otm Intel puts full margin. Liquidate all your other holdings, mortgage the house, cause you're all insiders and clearly realize something the market doesn't see.

Only id--ts still want to work here. Who care about more layoffs?

Right now they're looking at people simply over how many times they've badged in since RTO. But because the database only has one parameter (badge swipes), it does not consider approved time off. I know several people who were on sabbatical over the last 6 weeks being scrutinized by HR for showing 0% on their badge swipes. Another was on vacation for three weeks (only vacation taken this year) and management is being asked to explain why her badge-in average is so low over 6 weeks. It's happening, folks....they're looking for who they're going to trim down to LBT's 75K by end-of-year.

Jim Evers announced in a meeting yesterday that they're actively outsourcing as much as possible.

Sending more jobs overseas? After having received government funding? I bet that the administration will have something to say about that.

Take the package if you're offered one. Things are bad and it's going to get worse. 10 years of dedication and loyalty for nothing...... I'm out.

Current round of CPMs ends late Nov/early Dec. Outsourcing ramp up starts Q1 2026.

@dm Naga basically said layoffs are over, but he didn't say we're not ramping up outsourcing. They're just changing the euphemisms for canning people which is shady as fu-k.

Jim Evers announced in a meeting yesterday that they're actively outsourcing as much as possible. Dude spent an hour excitedly talking about how much money Intel is going to save by gutting BBs and moving to contractors.

A work around for layoffs is badge flipping. I bet they hired people to assist with that effort.

It's always amazing people are still surprised. Just look at the financials and debt and market share loss.

The only thing that has delayed layoffs in 2025 are the state forced handouts you got.

Those sound like a lot of cash, but they really aren't given you situation. It's just smoke and mirrors with Intel and US gov. collusion.

Fact remains... Find no customers then no 14A is made and it winds down. Tick Tock... It's what like 12 months left now.

One can't bank on the packages being offered today will be the same packages offered tomorrow. If there's no money in the bank, there's no money for a package.

We all understand the LBT needs to cut costs, and one way is to continue cutting headcount and moving jobs out of the USA. The next step might be to slim down the packages.

We know that our team lead is looking into getting onto the "cut list", as it's getting really bad. It's just depressing. Working hard and being depressed doesn't make things healthy; it barely pays the bills.

what you meant by HR formulas ?

Mathematical equations having many inputs but a single Boolean output value: eliminate employee = true or false.

Eliminations are through layoffs or firings. The many inputs probably include characteristics like your historical performance, pay grade, and possibly (at least these days - cynicism and sarcasm intended) things like gender, s-xual orientation, political affiliation, religion, heritage, skin color, physical attractiveness, citizenship, loyalty, secret society membership, s-xual perversions, and blackmail susceptibility / ability. Taken together, when fed into the equation, these characteristics will produce either a "get rid of them" or "keep them" answer.

Like you manage (or should manage) your credit score, if you want to keep your job, you should consider enhancing desirable outward-facing (publicly visible or knowable) characteristics and minimizing undesirable characteristics so that your resulting HR socioeconomic score is positive and not negative. Knowing how to adjust these values is half of the battle. The other half is managing them.

Good luck!
