Thread regarding USAA layoffs

Serious question, how do some of us volunteer to be part of this layoff round?

Serious question, how do some of us volunteer to be part of this layoff round? We know it’s coming in 2025 and 2026. If they need numbers, there are a few of us willing to take the package in order to protect others who may not have the ability to take the financial burden.

Win-win situation here. We’ll absolutely still do our jobs in the meanwhile.

@dr that's not how everyone did it. Our area lost long-tenured, capable, high performers. It was bizarre.

I’m an old employee that no longer works there that made the mistake of saying this to the wrong people… do not under any circumstances say this 😂 you WILL be targeted and they will do everything in their power to make you want to quit or fire you with no severance.

The layoffs in 2023 hit everyone and were not limited to "low" performers. It did have an impact the older/more experienced employees, which USAA later realized was a big mistake. I witnessed people with outstanding reviews and work skills being laid off while people who were barely meeting the minimum requirements getting passed by. USAA even admitted that they "over invested" in their workforce. Great business plan USAA.

Half true and half false. Back in 2023, the low performing (PM, low MEs) identified in that massive ECIO round were the first ones to go as part of “”job elimination””.

Capital One did that last year, they asked for X amount of volunteers to take a severance payout (12 months).

But USAA doesn’t have the brass b@lls to do that, because they know the “wrong” people will take it and leave for a competitor.

The severance package is only for people who lost their jobs through no fault of their own, such as downsizing. I would highly recommend NOT announcing that you want to be laid off and receive a severance package, which could result in your being targeted for promotion to another company. Unless you are approached directly by management with that option, keep it to yourself.
