Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

This belongs at the top right now

If you're not on the layoff list today then you will be tomorrow. Apple is making their own modem chips and who know what else.
Forget about working, and start training yourself. Do all the online courses that Qualcomm offers. Build your skills. And put as many keywords on your resume for the AI tool to pick up so you can get an interview. Else, you'll have a tough time finding a job. Don't be lazy. Don't give up. Don't get depressed. Don't eat too much and get unhealthy, Exercise and keep your mind active. While you're looking for a job, do some online courses on AI and Machine Learning. It will only help. Keep in touch with your ex-colleagues. They are your best source to finding another job. Add them onto your LinkedIn even if you didn't get along with them or never spoke to them. Everyone helps each other, cause you're all in the same boat. If you get a job, try and convince the new company to form a group or team and see if you can bring your coworkers into the same company. Help each other. Good Luck!

Like the Tutti Frutti company means that much. Their modem is still catching labs on fire. People are devastated losing a Qualcomm job because the environment is close knit and family. I wish this site had a troll begone function.

@cly+1ol5rO9J too late for that in the fruit company. Steady stream of Sr staff and higher moved to fruit company starting 2015 when higher titles were heavily affected.
This time around even lower titles won't find a job easily. Economy steadily getting worse unless you are in AI.

Some good advice, some bad, and some really awful (get in touch with people you don't get along with). Oh well, good luck, anyways.

LOL and LOL
"try and convince the new company to form a group or team and see if you can bring your coworkers into the same company" ....

please DON'T do this at Google SD or Apple SD. Please do NOT spread the toxic Qualcomm culture around.

As long as Qualcomm keeps its senior staff and above, it is not going to be a problem.

Staff and below are

  1. the people who do the actual work
  2. don't yet belong to cliques or don't care for it or don't know how to play politics
  3. the ones who will be affected by layoffs

This is like saying "floss your teeth everyday". Everybody knows they have to do it and it is good for ones health in the long run, but few people will do it as they believe bad things will only happen to other people.

That said, I am happy for you OP, now that you have realized what you need to do next. Good luck.

The thing is the best way to build yourself is actually doing the work. Trainings are just bs

Please vent elsewhere. There will be no layoffs for the final quarter.

Cheers 😘
