Thread regarding Optum layoffs

PLEASE PLEASE LISTEN TO US

Voluntary separation!!! Let those go that can take the impact better. Don’t force people out that need this job for the support of their families. Please. Listen to us.

I would have but my manager put me on a correction action plan when I mentioned wanting to transfer to another part of the company. I assume asking for this would have resulted in the same.

They know morale is at an all time low. This one gesture of giving people the choice would go such a long way. Throw us a bone of one piece of dignity and control. We are literally trying to help our fellow employees and communities by stepping out of the way. Hear us. Show some grace.

@ck
You and I are in the same boat. I feel bad for those at Optum that have families to support and are worried about their jobs. I was so hoping to be included in last friday's RIF's. I never mentioned anything to my manager because I'm not sure how they will take it.

@a2 @am when you volunteer to be let go, RIF would you still receive your Severance Package ?

@OP I am ready to retire this year. I have told my manager if there is a RIF in our area please put me on the top of the list. I’m hoping my retirement gift from the company is RIF severance package.

I have attempted this for a few months now, but all sources say decisions are too far up the chain to be heard. Any recommendations on who to voice this to on the Optum side?

I am afraid of backlash (“keep them to save the severance since they are leaving anyway”), but my conscience is clear knowing I tried.

I have been volunteering for layoffs for three years now. They still let other people go, younger talented people that actually need the job. I will just wait a few more months and just retire since I am just completely fed up with Optum/UHG. Worst place I have ever worked in my career.

I was let go in July 25 but earlier in the year I asked my Director to be considered, so yes, this worked.

Let your supervisors know that if there’s another rif on your team that you’re volunteering to be the one let go. That is what my boss did and he actually ended up saving two people because of his salary difference.

Me too. Ask and I’ll gladly raise my hands

@a2 Me, too! Was not given a choice but would have gladly taken a severance. It’s almost worse being left behind because now you just have more work on your plate. 😔
