@15d The average school bus driver makes about $20/hr where I live. Burger flippers here get about $15

Is this true ?

School bus drivers have better wage than customer support teams. No one is worried as everyone is doing 2nd and 3rd jobs already along with support work.

Enjoyed the slow and steady ride for more than 30 years. Did not have very smart managers. Work was quite easy and slow. It is a surprise we were able to come this far on the back of the work others did.

@b6 That is not true. They often give the “option” to find another job within 30 days at oracle or go ahead and leave. If you take the 1st option, no severance even if you don’t find another role.

@fk I’ve been laid off twice from publicly traded companies. Both times via email and access cut off in 2 hours.

Hope garden leave was provided for yesterday's RIF, for the RSUs to vest.

@f4 Say they email the layoff notices. When do they deactivate access? If they do it too soon you might not get to read the email. Granted, if your access is cut then you know what happened, but I do believe they are legally required to notify you, which is perhaps why zoom was used last year.

It feels like yesterday's layoffs was a dry run for what is to come: mass layoff emails, mass slack and systems deactivation, etc to ready the network and systems.

@ex Might explain the support ticket open with Salesforce asking how can we deactivate people without affecting totals shown. (Sarcasm)

I confirm, many people "deactivated" in slack this morning, both US and Canada. And yes, people in the US got to know via email... Tough times to come for all, those gone, and those left behind.

@cj everyone cannot post on #general. Oracle is not d-mb. Heh

Can people share what severance they were offered ? Of course I understand it depends on YOE etc., but how generous is Oracle this time...

@b6 That stuff USED to be posted to #watercooler, I was seeing a lot of them before I was let go. I was told they deleted that channel a week or so after I got it. Where ELSE is anyone to post about it? Heh, they SHOULD use #general, they're not going to delete that one.

everybody knows the final termination date is after the RIF/notification date - which is when access is removed. I've seen up to 2 months before. People saying they still have access after the notification date are trolls.
anybody ever been RIF'd by email before?
here's some advice for everyone - don't believe everything you read on the internet. you're welcome.

@bb My experience matches yours, except I almost got 6 weeks of garden leave. Which surprised me as I had never heard of O offering that before.

@b6,
You don't know WTF you're talking about. I was RIF'd on 8/12, but they told me I wasn't being formally let go until 9/22. I was still paid up to 9/22, THEN I was officially separated, and got my final paycheck. After which I got my severance, etc.

Hard to understand why people get off on messing with other people with something as serious as this. To all the people on here looking for real information, good luck!!

@b6 it is true, though I understand your hesitation given all of the trolling lately. I was notified by someone in db perf support today that multiple people were let go today.

@b6, you haven't a clue. Some Oracle employees do get laid off right away, but others may get up to 30 more days with access and salary before their last official day of employment. Happens all the time.

Household tip - THINK before you post. And of course, you're welcome. Now go away.

@b6

You are kinda weird, dude. Yes, when notified, your access is terminated almost immediately. However, I was not actually laid off for nearly another 3 weeks after my call, with all pay and benefits. It has been called "garden leave" dozens of times on this board since last year.

@b3 This is total bullsh-t. Oracle never gives a future date after being laid off. Ever. It's immediate so you can't steal anything, etc...
Everyone at Oracle knows that when there are mass layoffs - like last August/September - people know. It's not a secret. There hasn't been one word on Slack, or anywhere else at Oracle today. This is all seeming like more trolling.
Yes, layoffs are definitely coming. No doubt. But this seems like someone's idea of fun today - including the "layoff by email" screenshot. Do you think it's hard to fake an email screenshot?

Got the call today, Friday will be my last day. The severance package is not worth signing away my rights to sue later on.

@ag The SOP is a zoom call with a manager in your chain of command, who reads from a script, informs you when is your last day (if not today) and how much severance you will get.
