Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Enhanced Severence package to be announced in December

Five years added to service and age. The company has come to the conclusion that senior CWA techs will not leave without an enhanced offer. Minor short term hit and they’ll basically be free of a Union workforce going forward.

The company is going to be adding in some depts for the copper to fiber transformation and more capex spend on growing, upgrading the fiber network and infrastructure for both Core and Mobility.

There will be some targeted layoffs in areas due to obsolescence. It’s happens in all companies involved in technology. AT&T examples; telegraph, party lines, rotary phns, long distance and area code charges, operators, pay phone collection, pagers, dial up modems, analog cell bag phns, dsl, etc…

Out here in the west they offered ESRO to MSTs a second time with little change while there are comm techs and systems techs waiting for a chance. Just offer to everyone who put in for VSB. There's a pool of candidates right there!

This is the enhancement. Instead of one kick in the seat of the pants on the way out, they'll be two kicks. Bye.

Want to see it before I believe it, especially after his 30 billion spending spree. However it might actually be getting to a has to point. Tax cuts enables them to put more money into fiber deployment which cuts the need for workers, AI projects being delivered, etc, etc. Wonder how much of the data they formulated for that investors conference is even valid right now.

Stankey isn't paying any more than he absolutely has to in order to get rid of you. He'll shove a hot poker up your backside before he pays you more money to leave.

Dropped some info yesterday. If you saw the exact number, I alluded to tripping in a vine in that post. T removed it quick. Whether you make 56k or 250k a wind is coming. Be proactive and get affairs in order.

Five years to service and five years to age, that’s about 100 for me.

"The Union would have to approve an offer like that, the union would not approve that."

With all the older workers, it would get approved in a heart beat.
