Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Still giving it all for Chevron?

Don’t. They’ll bleed you dry, toss you aside when you’re no longer useful, and replace you without a second thought. All that experience and knowledge that took you decades to acquire means nothing to them. Stop wasting your time on a company that won’t waste a minute on you.

All the whining. People don’t understand business. Being employed is not about getting emotional. It is business not personal. I agreed to take this job with Chevron. No one forced me to work here. I am paid for my service to Chevron. If I agree to work for that pay then I do my best. If I don’t like the Company, I leave. After over 20 years I find no reason to leave. It is a business I am just part of it. Business decisions change. If they don’t need me then I will move on. There are other jobs. There is no perfect business that is going to run the way you think it should. No perfect managers they are people. They make both bad and good decisions. If the Company continues to make bad decisions then it gets what it has coming. So I have been passed over for promotion or a position. I am still paid to do a job and not get my pa-ties in a wad. You just do your job and wait out the bad supervisor they will move on.

"Chevron's vision is to be the global energy company most admired for its people, partnership and performance."

We were fed this mantra for how long?? At least 15 years.

Chevron has lost their vision.

You must have never been to a Nun's convent. It is not a safe place free of judgement and criticism....

So what you guys are saying is it's just like any other job. You learn some things, what to do, what not to do, you move along. And the real world is tough, many wolves in sheep's clothing. Did you think you were joining a nun's convent?

Learn all you can use at your next job, and throw the rest away. People will laugh at you if you use Chevron methods at your next job.

Protecting blue badges was always a lie. Now you know.

Use Chevron as a learning environment. Learn as much as you can, take each assignment as a opportunity to enhance your skills, and leverage all the free training they offer. It's like going to collage for free.

OP is what's wrong with hiring anti-capitalists.

"All that experience and knowledge that took you decades to acquire means nothing to them."

Yeah, I didn't work all those years to benefit Chevron, I did it to benefit my ability to provide for my family. No mater what happens I have something that is beneficial elsewhere.

Always remember we are just a number. Do you job, get paid well, but bottom line they have a priority to get money to share holders. Dont become emotional, this is a business. Work/life balance

100% Accurate. Thank you Chevron, for making the rules of engagement so very clear.

Same Chevron culture. Does not matter how well you do your job, it’s all who you know in leadership that will promote or keep you around.
