Got in trouble with HR for normal PTO usage

Had some wfh days due to flu/illness, and had too many PTO days that created a pattern.

Thanksgiving, Christmas, New years all fell on a Thursday this year, which led to a lot of my off days being similar and created a pattern.

Feels like I got in trouble for very PTO usage and not coming in when I was sick. Now bonus and pay raise is being threatened.

HR is absurdly strict last two years. Seems like they are overhired and just trying to drive people away or find an excuse to pay people less.

@qe they’ve always been WFH. Without dedicated space, would you want your dirty laundry aired in the floor?

@r5 I used to work with someone who scheduled elective surgery requiring 5-6 weeks out of the office every summer. Paging Dr Summeroff!

@r5 nailed it. Everyone took the Friday after TG, Christmas, and New Year’s off as planned PTO. The only reason it would be an issue is if you were doing shenanigans, using pto you didn’t have, not recording it properly, always being “sick” and “working from home” on those days after holidays, things like that.

@OP so you called out sick ( unscheduled) on the Fridays after Thanksgiving, Christmas AND New Year's Day? When others in your group probably already scheduled that prime PTO months in advance and you left your group short staffed? You HAPPENED to be sick on all those days? I've worked with people like that. You deserve to be called out.

you can't get in trouble for taking PTO days during Connect weeks. You are allowed to take PTO. Everyone would be in trouble if that were the case

How can bonus and pay raise play into it, it’s already been paid out- December

Yeah! I hear ya. They definitely trying to pay everyone less after giving a good majority of the company 3/4 weeks pay for free.

@OP TBH, this sounds fishy. The fact that thanksgiving, Christmas and new year all fall on Thursday is not something that just applies to you. Also I don’t believe HR is going after you if you are taking your normal PTOs, even always on Thursdays.
