Thread regarding Bank of New York Mellon Corp. layoffs

BNY Mellon leaving Oriskany?

Lot of whispering going around that BNY is looking to leave Oriskany. Several units are right now in the process of transitioning major functions to India.

What's even in Oriskany? I'd never even heard of Oriskany until I started reading this board.

It does matter. Thats why Charlie took care to give Oriskany a four year warning. It was si ply the right thing to do.

Oriskany closes four years to the month of Charlie’s four year guidance and warning to Oriskany.

@6fko, the average guy can't own a limo anymore due to NYS overreaction to an illegal immigrant ignoring the strict safety regulations and crashing his death trap.

Agreed… that’s what’s so great about Oriskany.
Off the grid and ready to rock. Charlie sure had foresight.

It's gonna take another 9/11, Sandy or 2019 Pune Flood for our risk manager to go back to basic protection of not putting all your eggs in one basket.

If you want to sum up how BNYM operates, just look at how they had Anthony Kumiega notify dozens of CNY employees that they were being terminated only to kicked to the curb the next day by his boss.

Links to any article showing BK got bailout money or it's nothing but your delusional rumor.

@2uzg,
Your uncle Todd was just making up excuses so you'd still show up for thanks giving dinner. You truly think "external funding issuers" could prevent Todd from firing someone but allow him to fire them if he gave them SUB payments? Not to mention that it would make more sense to reach out to these supposed non-performers and see what's up? It was almost impossible to put a change in during the second quarter of 2020 with all the big wigs canceling things at the last minute.

@2wnl,
You're confusing when President Trump let us keep more of OUR money by adjusting taxes so they were a little more reasonable.

Sorry, but you haven’t spoken with Todd and You are incorrect. There were people who were slacking and nonperforming during COVID work from home. These employees would ordinarily have been terminated with cause, but in light of the external funding and the issues in the two year era Todd graciously offered them SUB. But make no mistake, they err terminated for cause.

#FakeNews. You don’t work here.

We took the Trump COVID bail out money in exchange for committing to two years of no layoffs. At that time management announced (verbatim) that the COVID money would be spent on:

  1. bringing the lowest paid clerical workers up to the minimum of their grade.
  2. spending the rest to “empower employees to better do their jobs.”

That of course was code words for blowing it all on Greenfield. If you don’t remember that then you didn’t work here and you don’t work here now.

@2pzv, no, we did NOT receive covid money. None of our companies are on any of the lists so quit repeating that nonsense as if it's truth.
And if Todd gave away SUB payments when people should have been fired then he failed in his fiduciary responsibilities. But that's no surprise when we spend so much promoting woke policies to alienate white men and donating to racist organizations.

@2fub

There were no layoffs during Todd’s 2 years of leadership. We took Federal COVID money with the agreement that we would not lay off people. There were nonperforming people who should have been terminated with cause but Todd took the high road and gave them SUB.

We did misspend the COVID money on Greenfield instead of helping people and that was Todd’s one failure.

Whoever keeps saying there were zero layoffs under Todd should stop. While he was here we had a wave of layoffs in my division including an employee that I had to let go. It was bank wide, not huge, but he was in charge, so stop trying to re-write history.

Close Oriskany office, and reopen a small Syracuse location. Can’t have an office in the middle of nowhere. A stupid and biased decision was made in 2021 to close East Syracuse and keep Oriskany

Very astute observations. Poland actually has the sharpest cyber vulnerability in the world along with Ireland running a close second.

What to make of the Oriskany Rumors?

First we read that Todd completely eliminated all jobs in Oriskany, despite the fact that Todd took the federal payments, promised to have no Layoffs for two years and never did layoff a single person. Then, half a year ago we read that all jobs and employees in Oriskany were eliminated… then, after another half year we once again hear that Oriskany jobs were being eliminated. Then we have six months of people complaining about having to commute to Oriskany.

The only logical conclusion is that we hire only workers suffering from MPD* in Oriskany.

*Multiple Personality Disorder… think “Sybil”.

Moving work to India has been a great cost savings for the Bank, and there is no drop off in quality. Better yet is moving work to Wrocław Poland. Poland workers are really well educated and have a phenomenal work ethic.

Okay, we got the message.

Oriskany has now been “Totally cleared out” three times. One of them even 82under Todd, who laid off ZERO people. Can we stop totally clearing out Oriskany now?

Worked nearly 10 years in Oriskany prior to the transition to send loan administration work to India. Workers in India are paid substantially less than Oriskany people…obviously the reason for this terrible transition. Large cultural disparities and lack of training & understanding created a poor work environment where Oriskany workers were responsible for India’s work mistakes. Supervisors & managers at Oriskany were supportive of India workers’ efforts yet condescending, arrogant, non-empathetic, defensive and not good at managing their own people in Oriskany. Oriskany management was good at piling additional work on Oriskany workers after contract workers were let go, people were laid off and when new people couldn’t be recruited for long-standing vacancies.

That would surprise me. The folks in Oriskany are known for their high service levels, or they were. Does that not matter anymore?

Where have you been? Wall Street and Manchester obviously care about nobody but themselves.
Welcome to your new world order.

Someone had it out for Oriskany
Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out who it is
Should be a crime when one senior manager is responsible for demoralizing an entire site. He spent the last several years getting rid of numerous highly skilled managers and employees in oriskany. Ruthless.
