Why is the stock still hovering near its 52-week lows? With the IBM Think conference in Boston underway, you’d expect all the “good news” coming out of it to provide some lift. It’s essentially a homecoming-style rally for IBM—so why does the stock keep falling instead?

@14y not 100 but def sub 200. Yes they need to get traction on their quantum buzz asap. People aren’t taking the bait at moment. Maybe savy to the wash rinse repeat tactics?
I would venture to predict, IBM stock price will be around $100 by year’s end.
No hot air coming from the Indian sh-t-head running the company with his Indian tribe of useless POS can reverse the trend.
After, IBM missed the AI business opportunity, the fu--ing id--t is spewing sh-t about the cost.
He should be sent back to India and live under rock, were he came from.
Stock is now below 52 week low - so THINK was a bust. An expensive bust.
@vm yes
"So was this years IBM THINK a big bust?"
Hopefully not, because typically it is after THINK that work gets busy... at least in Services. If THINK was a bust then that does not bode well for the rest of the year.
In the US, we have yet to see any layoffs... no doubt they are coming!
So was this years IBM THINK a big bust? Not worth the money to put on? ROI?
@nq a great big fat CFO
@kt
It will go back up. Jim K is a great CFO
@kg you forgot the fast declining stock price...LOL
IBM has a strong balance sheet and great cashflow. Arvinds leadership and Jim Kavanaughs stewardship as CFO has IBM Strongly positioned.
How much did IBM spend on designing the Bob icon? Apparently more than on the actual product. But that's IBM, prioritizing image over content and quality. Didn't management learn from Watson and all its fake spinoffs? How embarrassing and pathetic. I'm glad I don't work there anymore. A big thank you to the psychotic managers who decided to RA me a while back.
@OP BOB = Big On Bull$h1t
Only the jackasses at IBM starting the the clown CEO could invent this type of rubbish and expect it to sell.
@f3 Try this on for size. Good night Bob. IBM is that loud obnoxious clown at the carnival that sits on a shelf in a cage filled with water that everyone throws ba--s at to knock them in the water and laughs at. IBM's best days were in the 50s-60s-70s when they MADE incredible things.

The id--ts at IBM that pushed for Bob adoption as useless POS slimy creeps.
The lead of the team jumped off the team a couple of months before the release. As useless piece of sh-t.
@e0 yep thanks. The product seems pathetic. The cheerleading pathetic. I idea that someone with an ounce of technical chops would use something (I cannot call it a produtc) called "Bob" is pathetic. Worst of all, my eyes are going to pop out of my head if I see that pathetic and stupid AI generated plastic icon known as Bob doll.
@cm Bob is just a thin wrapper around Anthropic Claude. It's something a college intern could have pulled together in a weekend. It exists because watsonx was withering on the vine and the execs needed to show they had at least SOMETHING in the AI market. Zero client interest in it and the internal interest is all from non-technical cheerleaders (actual technical people are just using Claude or OpenAI). I doubt it continues to exist past the end of this year.
Here is an idea to get the IBM stock price to $1,000. Lets do watsonx hackathons Monday Wednesday Friday and Bob A Thons Tuesday and Thursday. Arvind can kick them off with a worldwide sing along using the old IBM songs they really sang in the sales branch offices because the Watsons truly loved their people and vice versa. After Arvind is done Robbie Hoodie Thomas can then lead IBM worldwide in jumping jacks and cheerleading summersaults. Winners (losers?) get all expense paid trips to Bengalaru to eat slop with Arvind and Robbie.
@cm and then, there is Arvind of IBM. He is is a whole lot more stupid than Bob and he plays the stupid part really well too.
Yes, I agree about Bob... There are too many IBMers wasting their time with Bob... and in the meantime not making any money for the company.
F IBM. YTD my AMD is up 97%. My Intel up 207%. My Micron up 134%. Amazon/AWS 20%. IBM and this BOB nonsense is like IBM has given all of it's employees some magic spell and they think Bob is going to be as big as Thinkpad or iPhone or Blackberry. Been in IT almost 50 years and have NEVER seen anything as galactically stupid as BOB.
IBM -24% YTD.
@cf IBM treats the WARN act as a joke. Look at this nonsense: www.warntracker.com/company/ibm
@be what site are you from? What RA? None have been announced. Any WARN act announcements? I heard it’s going to be October
I'm about to leave on an RA after being hired last August and I can honestly say I've never worked for a more badly managed company. Not to flex, but I'm really good at my job. I'm being replaced by a colleague in India who is next to useless. Good luck, IBM! The poster who said that the company has been filled with mediocrities has it right. It's a rudderless ship.
@ah no surprises, the corrupt IBM Indian management couldn't run anything but a fired up dumpster. IBM CIO is IBM's own biggest customer with Krabanaugh and his lapdog Joanne the Walrus. IBM no longer has any viable customers - most would never want to be seen in a photograph with Alvind and his Pipmunks. The IBM management can never get anything done right and the falling stock price just proves it again.
But the dividend is still good and Alvind needs to have his bonus cut for his failures.
Zoom out to Max on your Yahoo Finance stock chart. From 2007 to 2024, IBM stock bounced between $120 and $180. Then in 2024, Arvind started telling lies about our AI and Quantum business to Wall Street while simultaneously slashing headcount and moving everything to India to goose the earnings (he claimed the earnings jump was due to AI and Quantum which was 100% false) and the stock jumped to $320. Wall Street is starting to figure out it was all a lie. Stock is heading back under $200. Well under $200.
What, you can't cut your way to success? Who knew? Answer: Anyone with a brain.
IBM has sold out its future with short-term thinking. Almost no one left is capable of independent thinking; IBM has selected for mediocre drones and mediocrity is what they have. Zero innovation.
This is karmic; too bad Arvind won't be forced to give back his millions that were all based on a lie. What comes around goes around.
In recent days, we have seen the stock price of Intel, AMD, Nvidia, TSMC and other companies that are serious about technology and it's newly found adoption (AI) surge to high levels. That is the message from Wall Street about how much relevant are these companies to the industry. Wall Street does not care about IBM or believe in its message. IBM is on the brink of collapse. The vultures holding IBM stock are lurking for the appropriate time to dismantle it.
@OP I wish someone could take ALL the many IBM LinkedIn posts which are just 1 after another of nonsensical, cheerleading, internal praising of IBM employees bragging about the stupid Bob, and other IBM products (bought not built), and pictures of IBM only people at expensive $150 dinners wolfing down food and booze. PLEASE find me 1 picture of AN ACTUAL CUSTOMER!!! Just such a huge waste of likely $10,000,000 of IBM shareholder money being spent on nonsense. Talk about WASTE FRAUD ABUSE!
Because there's no good news coming out of THINK or anything else to do with this company.
