Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Managers reference layoff site in meetings

I've been in a couple meetings late last week and management Sr director, ADs, SMs all mentioning the site as if our fear isn't valid. Basically they all were saying everything here is fake and no one really knows. Just strange that higher-ups mentioned the site by name and wanted to discredit everything on here. Who's know what is true on this site but for leadership to acknowledge it shows even they know some layoffs are coming.

I wonder just how anonymous this site really is? Anyone have any facts they can share?

@dc there is a significant lack of leadership, no bench strength at VP & above and the globalists have ruined an iconic American company in 8 years from the inside out. So why no communications? They are hoping the market might not notice the systemic downfall again in our 3rd Q results. Once the 3rd Q results are posted let the ax throwing begin! The Street wants results & Vz has tanked institutional investments since 2018 / yes the dividend kept some investors but is it sustainable? Its Not. & BTW Hans being courtside @ The Knicks game the other night is a bad look - need to start a class action claw back of his parachute!

@dp I assume you meant morale buster?

  • posts and rumors here a symptom of failure to communicate from the company

  • failure to communicate leading to rumors is a morale booster

  • verizon leadership still operating in nineteen eighties models

  • good businesses are transparent

  • even though Amazon rif is small compared to workforce, they told people well ahead of time which allowed them to work from the inside to find other savings + the thirty thousand is a small percent even though it sounds like a lot

  • many companies will tell employees long ahead of time we need to increase revenue or cut costs to prevent redundancies + harnessing power of everyone to find a solution + not tell everyone things fine when it isnt.

  • if leaders are reading this I challenge them to try a different way + trust employees + tell them the reality + let them find solutions + reward for solutions

Management have had plenty of opportunity over the past week to reassure employees…they haven’t done so…there’s a complete void in communication…this tells me the rumours are true…it’s not if, it’s when the plans will be executed

@da

Agree with you!

Leadership has clearly missed the mark in several areas — no denying that. But it’s important to stay grounded. No company executes 15–20% cuts all at once. Even Amazon, with its scale, is implementing its 30,000 corporate reductions gradually and across functions.

Verizon’s structure is complex, and any workforce changes would almost certainly be phased in over time through a mix of attrition, restructuring, and voluntary programs. It’s fair to be concerned, but let’s keep the discussion factual — not driven by panic or speculation.

Well said. The noise isn’t because the site is toxic — it’s because leadership lacks clarity and transparency across every level running the company. That problem existed long before Hans and only got worse under him. When communication breaks down, people fill the gaps themselves. That’s why this place stays active — it’s where employees go when leadership stops being honest.

@OP in the past …. This site has been extremely accurate and a reliable source. Can’t speak about the last year or 2 though.

@OP

I don’t buy the idea of a 15–20% reduction happening all at once — that would be too disruptive operationally and financially. But make no mistake, cuts are coming. Wall Street wants Verizon to show it can monetize the network and run leaner, so they’ll move in waves — outsourcing, attrition, and selective reorgs. That’s the corporate game: manage the optics, keep investors calm, and stretch the pain over time. Anyone still inside should stay alert and have a plan.

This site has proven to be accurate in the past RIFs. Don't forget HR also manages this site and are actively trying to discredit valuable leaks posted on this site. You should look at the info and know that there is the 60-day WARN requirement so by 11/1 the truth of RIF or not will be self evident.

My 2 cents on this:

  • If the site is junk, why does the traffic grow.
  • You cannot have an anonimous platform and have it clean, the sheer fact that anything can be posted without repercusions will invite trolls and people who are fu--ing around. the entire tech industry is based on a 'registered user' metrics, this site is the only one i am aware of that does not give a fu-k about 'registered user' - it's renegade and counter-tech
  • The site resembles the watercooler, one does not simply just trust things that you hear next to the watercooler
  • If there is a lot of engagement on a post (like this one), it has some substance
  • People need to vent, it's therapeutical
  • One cannot speak openly at work, no matter how smart or not smart you are - you can do it here - if you are smart, you get rewarded with a lot of engagement
  • Votes up and down can be manipulated, use it just as a light gauge of where things are but do not trust it - this applies to x, fb, insta and especially here
  • Glassdoor is overmoderated and all F500 cos have ability to moderate - look for positive posts there
  • LinkedIn is cringe, you lay off someone and he/she will post: 'thanks for the opportunity to work here' - so, fu-k that
  • Layoffs.com very much lean towards negative, take that in consideration, your best bet is a mix of layoffs.com (for negatives) and glassdoor (for positives)
  • given all of this, i'd say layoffs.com is doing fairly good job of filtering things out - i'd bet big money that we only see 20% of what's posted and that they remove 80% of stuff, bots, reposts, duplicates, foul lang, racism, etc.

@cf I would also add that if you browse this site incognito on multiple devices you can up/downvote anything to oblivion by yourself pretty quickly. I hate this site

This site can give accurate information at times. But you have to take with a grain of salt. At my last company there was information put out here that was very accurate concerning downsizing.

This site, following the sainted Trooper Brown's site, has been around longer than them!

The FCC is reading too!

Bad things were done to this company by bad people and corrupt people.

There is no more hiding!

@OP they know they can’t afford the morale dump as if 100% of the team has been served a notice when it is much more likely that 6-15% will.
