Mid-year Request from AVP

How concerned would you be about RIF of your role, if your team received a request from your AVP for individual mid-year accomplishments to be sent to them in a doc, 2-3 weeks before the official Mid-Year Accomplishments submission portal is open?
To me, it signals more of a 'why should we keep you' than an official performance appraisal, but maybe I'm paranoid.

Yeah you write your own mid-year in many groups. It means nothing in the end. Managers just write up some generic BS on it anyway. Nobody really cares how much stuff you did. They will RIF you regardless.

Our CEO said it already…. Verizon is going to focus on flattening layers. Less Bureaucracy and streamline.

Listing of accomplishments during mid/end year review is mostly normal. However, if a people leader is asked to rank their employees then that is an indicator.

@OP What your AVP is trying to say is: “su accomplishments es mi accomplishments!”

It could be for their mid-year or for a presentation. Maybe they’ll get a promotion for accomplishing so much!

That alone is no cause for concern.
Many teams require early documentation of individual contributor mid year writes up, because then each level above takes and summarizes their teams work for their own mid year. And it keeps going. I know our AVP is just a summary of the teams work. But this way they are ready to go when the system open.

A month before November 2025 RIF leadership asked everyone to send a quick summary of their experience accomplishments certifications and degrees. I thought it was weird but I didn’t ask. So id be concerned and I would ask

@ae if you want a friend, get a dog. upper management doesn’t deserve respect or to be seen as leaders given how badly they treat employees

hope that means the OPs Sr Dir, Dir, and A. Dir will all be riffed, and maybe the AVP themselves.all AVPs can go. my AVP is a Lake Mary mid-et who is notorious for skipping work so she can get lip injections that make her look like a cheap h00ker. she cries anytime someone brings up something sentimental in a meeting. like a mother’s day video someone made. meeting with over 100 people and she’s crying tears of happiness. hope she gets fired and her family leaves her. rotten person!

What are your roles? Are you AD’s or individual contributors. Why would AVP be asking for reports from people several steps down?

I got the same request today as well! Feels something else than the actual Mid Year review.
