Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Has PDC process already begun for native Chevron employees?

Hess received orientation on PDC this morning - where we will have a Chevron employee representing us during the selection process by sending them a CV and having a quick 30 minute meeting.

Question: has PDC already happened for Chevron - or is the Oct. 8-10 selection notification to fill all open positions in the Oct 1 go-live org chart?

@ce you have the chances of being short listed incorrectly: who you know is FIRST.

PDC job openings are 9/26 - 10/1

If you apply for something make sure you state how you fit the selection criteria as best you can in whatever paperwork you have to submit. If you are qualified in all categories that should get you short listed. Then it often depends on who you know and what your reputation is. In a normal PDC you can call the job owner and introduce yourself (which helps), but not this one. So a big chunk of your fate is in the hands of whoever is representing you in the PDC.

But Accelerated Expression of Interest and Expression of Interest already happened with people voluntarily leaving.

Nothing to do with what you know. Only who you know.

Former Noble here. Make no mistake, the PDC is exclusively for making sure certain CVX hipots get the right roles. The entire process is ridiculously opaque and purpose built to give preferential treatment, with a veneer of an open competition. I’ve seen it from multiple sides at this point, and I can assure you it’s not an open competition. You’ll start noticing Chevron folks are under qualified for their roles…this is why.

For those with direct knowledge of how PDC selections have happened in the past, is it generally a “who you know and who knows you” situation?

(Ie: “yeah I worked with them in the past and he/she did good work back on xyz project”)

Or a resume comparison driven process…

It’s hard to fathom Hess and native Chevron employees being given equal consideration within an exclusive Chevron driven selection process. Being fair, I would imagine if the situation was reversed, Hess selectors would have deference to who you know and have worked with previously.

But with CVX being such a large organization compared to Hess, perhaps I am misreading it and it’s more clinical than I imagine?

PDC has not happened. It’s the dates you mention.
