Thread regarding BP PLC layoffs

Why is Elliott so quiet?

They bought a huge chunk of our shares last year and have barely made a peep. What’s their play? They need a return on this investment and it’s not clear how that’s going to happen. So what’s going on?

There’s a deeper and darker story here that has less to do with bp as it does general economic growth and development. Elliot is in full realization that we…plural we are headed to some challenges. Upsetting the apple cart is not prudent. BP is still too complex and entitled

Elliott is quiet for now because our board and leadership are doing what they asked - cut costs, move away from low carbon, organize around upstream and downstream, and reduce headcount. The reorganization that is unfolding right now is because of Elliott. We’re actually doing this quickly for such a big company. But, you’re right, Elliott has expectations and if we don’t meet those expectations, they’ll turn up the heat.
