@cy yea but you think forcing people into an office is going to change that? It's not. If people were allowed some agency they'd likely be more open to mentoring young people or new hires. I can tell you that personally, I do not have any desire to mentor anyone. Had I been given a choice in my return to office and I wasn't being treated like a truant child, I'd absolutely be on board. But nah. Sorry. That's a big fat nope from me.
Don't be mad at the tenured folks for being unwilling. Be mad at the people that changed the rules in the middle of the game and destroyed morale and made nobody give a sh-t about investing in the next round of talent. We're already not getting raises. Why would we want to take on MORE via a fledgling? Hard pass.
You can go into workday and find a willing mentor, but the chances of them being in your location aren't great.
