Thread regarding Citigroup Inc. / Citibank / Citi layoffs

Rating 4,HR,Ethics,layoff

I was laid off last month, in my project it's alone me but I know few people on the floor who were laid off before/after me..few things are very common among us, we got 4 last year, all of us raised a case with HR and as we did not hear from HR ,we raised it with Ethics too..anyone else? I know no point but would like to know if that was the pattern ..as I know 2 more people who got 4 and still no laid off

You CAN GET Severance with a 4-Rating without being placed on a PIP. You CAN Get Severance money with a 4-Rating AND be on a PIP. As long as the employer classifies your Firing as a Layoff or RIF.

All RIFs / Layoffs are Firings, BUT NOT all Firing are RIFs / Layoffs.

If you happen to be 4-Rated whether or not you're PIPed, and then RIF'd / Laidoff consider the RIF/Layoff as a blessing because then you WILL Get Severance and Notice Period money, in addition to your medical insurance extended until the end of the Notice Period 60 or 90 days depending on which U.S. State you're in.

As others have already posted being 4-Rated is NOT an automatic PIP, But it's also NOT good because at this point it's difficult if not impossible to change a manager's perception of you. Their view of you is now impaired and damaged. It's an uphill battle and the bar is raised higher to even get the perception of doing good work. It's hopeless and you may as well start interviewing for new jobs.

I had to layoff a 1/2. So, a 4 rating doesn't always mean hit list.

Well good for you getting severance. I got a BS 4 told the manager it was BS and expected to be RIFd in Jan. Even said I’d be Ok with it. Jan comes and no RiF. Waited for Bonus discussion on the 16th and handed in my resignation/retirement letter 10 minutes after. Still miffed i didn’t get severance but it was so freaking liberating. Love retirement highly recommend it.
