@je 100 years is a long time, boomer. Time for you to hang it up and go away retire with some dignity. Oh wait, you have none. You’re unable to flow with changes of this century.

@jm "Work comes first. That's life. You sign up after you weigh all factors and move closer if needed. No whining."

That's fair. Now let's flip that around and ask the same of HR and the Company. Would they do the same for those of us who were hired remote and have been WFH forever? I mean they did "sign up" and obviously (they being oh so smart) "weighed all factors". Now if only they would honor it and stop "whining".

How do you like them Apples? Ha!

@jh hours of your week commuting? Work comes first. That's life. You sign up after you weigh all factors and move closer if needed. No whining.

@je yea except now that I'm losing hours of my week to commuting I have less time on my weekends to deal with all the things I used to have time for after work. Or even before work.

You keep coming back here spouting the same sh-t. Nobody cares what we did 100 years ago. There weren't computers, or any of the technology we had then. Should we also return to the dark ages because "that's what we've always done"? No. Because that's ridiculous.

If you want to go into an office, by all means. You have the freedom and ability to do that. But don't drag everyone else down your miserable old ways because you can't move into the modern age. It's 2026 bud. Time to begin typing emails with more than just your two pointer fingers, or use copilot.

Work is for the office. Home is for family matters and important golf score improvement. Work has been done at the office for 100 years. Covid is over and we need you back. Gasoline prices vary everyday. You still get your weekends to spend your hard earned dollars or rupees

The most polluted country in the world is India, we can forget about saving money or energy due to sky rocketing gas price

Do people not understand that you can care for the environment, dislike corporate exploitation of workers, strongly oppose RTO, oppose infinity immigrants from the dumpsters of the world like india, and still be right leaning?

Developing technology should make our lives better, midday yoga sessions instead of mindlessly starting at teams to appear busy is a good development.

Commuting is an obedience ritual thrust upon us by "leaders" that don't care about you at all. In no way should a happy and honorable populace accept that. It's just the braindead boomers clinging onto this.

Further, corporations should not be given the opportunity to undercut american wages through the use of infinity indians. They all need to be sent back.

@e1 Your statements are simply not true. Yes there is lots of offshoring (which I am very opposed to) but not everything non-customer facing is being offshored. That's just not factually correct. I know that doesn't fit your narrative, but there it is.

Banking has moved operations to India. Unless you are someone facing rich folks, you are only gonna be around a few weeks to months. Find another job. The 1990s are gone

@db last I checked the job offer I accepted was remote. It specified this on my offer letter.

I'm now in a hub. For absolutely no reason.

Go fu-k yourself.

@d0

You checked enough of them, often enough, to confidently reach this conclusion? Sounds like it was really you who was not working when they should hedge been. You surely couldn't be talking out of your a-s here, right?

And let's say, for argument sake, that you are right. None of these blatant slackers had any management or leadership? Just rogue agents, setting their own agendas day to day? Um yeah, sure. Whatever you say, chief...

@d0 who are these “people”? How do you know so much about what they do when they are at home? Are they your friends? Family? You? Maybe you’re salty about not having WFH privileges and can’t do all those things? Everyone I know that WFH has been uber-productive.

@db Well, I factored in the fact that I applied for a REMOTE position years ago, and my offer letter stated I was offered a REMOTE position, which I accepted in writing. Then suddenly, OOPS JUST KIDDING, you now have to "RTO". This is dishonest, unethical, and should be illegal.

BTW, gas is $6.25 a gallon here. So go fu-k yourself.

We are not Europe yet. We are the land of free and brave. Commiuting is part of accepting a job offerings. One faktors in costs and hours and employee condiciones. See you at the officing!

@OP The bank has their own agenda and I doubt they care about what employees think. All they do care about is their cost and how much they can gain, down to the penny - no matter the “cost”.

@d0 did you ever think that people had more money to invest in these things because they weren't forced to spend extra money on commuting?

So what if someone goes to a mid-day yoga class. Wouldn't you rather them do that and come back to their home office desk refreshed and ready to take on the rest of the day? Not commuting means people have, on average, 2 extra hours per day. Which is enough to go golf half a round at a golf course after work.

A lot of people are struggling to actually find daycare, and people had small kids home because of the staffing challenges COVID brought on.

If you had half a brain and actually listened to people talking about work/life balance you'd know this. But you've got your nose so far up GK's a-s you can't see anything but her butt cheeks.

WFH has proved to be ineffective. Too many distractions. People running errands when everyone else went back to work. Too many people yanked toddlers out of daycare to save money. Golf course memberships soared and mid day yoga classes. Work is done with collaboration in the office.

Europe and -Asian countries are encouraging everyone to work from home to conserve gas and energy. Meanwhile, USBank of India is telling us to waste gas so we can sit in a cube just to talk to team members on TEAM.

I work with zero people I talk to in the same office

@cb well said. I am the OP. I am far from a tree hugging hippie, but do believe in conservation when possible. There is a balance. We must also offset some of environmental impact that will be done with AI. Suddenly the bank has just forgotten to be responsible.

@c3 so this may go over your head so try to pay attention and keep up.

The point here is to pause RTO and let as many as possible WFH to do our part in controlling gas prices so those who must be at the office (client facing) will not have to pay more to fuel up their vehicles.

I am sure the "green" part triggered the single cell in your brain leading your thoughts in a different direction (EV hate, ICE cars are best etc. etc.) but it was not the intent of OP.

@c3 if work is done in the office, are you asserting that people just didn't work for the 4 years they were home? Or that those people who were remote before COVID didn't work? Pretty sure everyone was working otherwise businesses would have crashed functioning. Go troll somewhere else.

@c3

the US and A, huh? If it wasn't obvious by your bootlicking, your inability to use simple English identifies you as a low-IQ individual.

Not sure I'd be looking to publicize that, but you do you.
