Thread regarding Macy's Inc. layoffs

Any closure news?

When are they announcing the next round of closures? Any updates? Any signs for stores to be looking out for that would mean they are on the list? When do you think the next announcement will be?

My uncle is a liquidation consultant for Tiger Capital Group. Tiger are the people that come in and run the liquidation sales. He didn’t mention the furniture gallery, but I wouldn’t be surprised. There is a lot of furniture stores that it competes with.

The ladies in the LensCrafters booth have also been discussing where they are going to go once LensCrafters shuts down.

@1yg Tuttle Crossing has been on the closing list for a while. The mall is dead. The store and furniture gallery will be part of the end of year closing announcements in January 2026.

Nothing will happen till after Christmas. Closing stores were already told last year. It’s over a three year prior. Some have closed already. Store closings are usually announced to the store manager on the first Monday in January. The tote manager will then announce on Tuesday. The liquidator comes out on Wednesday and the store closing sale begins Monday the following week after announcement.

I think a pretty good indication that a store is closing soon is when they close off certain sections of the store and the store itself starts looking like a bargain basement or glorified discount store.
Which ironically would describe a majority of the fleet….

Pulling Polo Ralph Lauren or other major brands, tons of markdowns, etc

Pffft… the company is not going to announce anything now going into 4th quarter. They’re looking to get blood out of a turnip from of the employees during the holidays and after inventory is taken… THEN the axe falls!

Carrot on a stick approach this year. They don’t want stores colleagues and leaders giving up as Q4 approaches. You’ll be notified a week prior to inventory, yet your store will be in inventory prep mode after Xmas.
