Thread regarding ALDI layoffs

Corporate Layoffs > HR Dept RIF 50%

Group meeting followed by a touch base meeting informing role will be eliminated. HR executive stated that the company is moving to "A Global HR Model" and that outsourcing of Admin and "transactional" tasks will be taking place by Genpact an overseas outsourcing company. Introducing a new HR System 'Workday" to replace UKG and Cornerstone.

Claim is that it's due to a "Significant operating expenses at national and international functions". Company moving to a "globally standardized system". Something about based off the new operating model group in Austria. Leadership does not have enough information to tell when cuts will begin but will take place in phases with at least a 60 day notice. Jobs being cut from Aug 2026 though March 2027. Estimated 130 HR roles cut (half the dept) all teams affected except internal communications and HR project.

A separation support package will be provided (if they stay on till the end of employment) must be agreed to within 45 days:

  • Separation pay calculated on tenure as last day. Those who work a minimum of 12 weeks after the announcement are eligible for an additional 12 weeks.
  • If elect COBRA ALDI will pay COBRA fee for 6 months.
  • Unused sick time and vacation time will be paid out.
  • Career transition services offered for up to 6 months starting 30 days prior to separation date.
  • All affected are eligible for rehire.

Decision on who was cut is based on tenure.

@b3 Atty visited the divisional offices all the time and had 0 courtesy to say hello to the assistants or the office team lead. As a woman, one would think she would have the courage and determination to support other women… but I guess thats not the case!

OTL’s and Benefits Assistants in the divisional offices were let go last Thursday. As mentioned previously they weren’t even allowed to say bye and were told to return their equipment while waiting in the office lobby! DM’s and previous employees who have violated the policy and terminated previously for something serious were still treated better than these employees who did nothing wrong. This company had no respect to tell their tenured employees in person and allow them to ask questions. Leadership like divisional VP’s had zero decency to show respect and compassion towards those who lost their jobs. Its sad because OTL’s worked hard to keep up the morale in the office and worked as a liaison between store, warehouse and office teams. None of the divisional ops directors had the courtesy to say good bye and thank these assistants and OTL’s who supported their store employees. Very disappointed at ALDI

Currently working in National Real Estate. Multiple employees terminated with severance and they announced a timeline of when Genpact will be coming aboard to handle "transactional duties". They literally explained how we will do " a knowledge transfer" to these ppl to do our jobs. Assuming we will be cut next over the next year or so once the bugs are fixed. That's the talk of the whole department.

@nm I know right, we just sit next to each talking on teams instead of at home talking on teams lmao. They asked for cost saving ideas, urm let us work from home!?!?

25 Benefits Assistants + all office team leads fired with ZERO notice!
Outrageous.
Now the remaining BA's have double the workload and no job security.

Spread the word. Get it out on social media. Tell friends and family. The more people talk about the true nature of this company the better. Behind closed doors they are celebrating this as a huge cost savings. I’ve witnessed it. Go out and document your treatment. Heck, go out and document their poor produce quality.

@f5 4 days in office has been announced in the UK starting January 2027, so very likely other countries will do it as well

NIT is next to be culled. ALDI has to make up for the extreme cost of AHEAD. This company has seen better days and anybody who is not a manager is not safe.

@ey They are piloting overseas, once pilot is done they will let go NIT US. Even if they keep them, it will be for a short period of time, look at the current projects, look at your ticket volume, look at the projects that the NBC has, look at the aggressive hiring in Europe. As one director said, do what’s best for your families. Sad times for the company!

@cg honestly everyone should start looking. They laid off people without notice who were with the company 9+ years last round. The executives don’t care about any of us.

Anyone who is getting the waive your rights to sue what ALDI calls a "severance package" read it carefully. It's the only reason it's offered. Also watch out as ALDI was looking for ways to terminate people to avoid paying "severance" the last round. So if you stay document everything, your output, your results, proof your still performing etc, remember ALDI just showed you that they don't value you. Don't go all in anymore, what are they going to do fire you and add more work on the next guy that's going to just quit? Who will train Genpact. From what I'm hearing Genpact in other depts is a disaster. Atty got on when she was promoted bragging about how she was all about "our people". Yeah I guess that was a load of cr-p. Executive brag about how they are giving a compensation/exit package xyz but they fail to realize this hits people more than financially. But these executives only care about money. Su-ks since the 401k vesting schedule is set up in a way that they don't have to pay out.

Here are some free Aldi marketing phrase:
LAYOFFS It's and ALDI thing
OUTSOURCING it's and ALDI thing
EFFICIENCY AT ALL COSTS: It’s an ALDI thing.
GENPACT: It’s an ALDI thing.

I know the survivors are going to feel similar pain and anxiety. We all felt it when it happened in other depts. It's a bad look for ALDI. I promise you this everyone and their brother is going to hear about this.

Also if you were one of the very few "survivors" just know your the next to be cut "effective immediately" they are only keeping you on till all the kinks are worked out, you will triage issues and good luck taking time off or backup, in the end your going to wish you were the first wave. Even the horrible letter sent signed by Atty says this is going to continue into the future.

I was at ALDI corp under the HR umbrella and left last March for a better opportunity. Had to request an exit interview from my director as my manager was avoiding allowing me to participate in one. I hinted very heavily I had a feeling BIG changes were coming up - especially with the delayed rollout of Workday. Sad that I was right.

@c9 I believe they’re able to get away without putting out WARN notices because most of the layoffs have more than 60 days notice. Only like 10 people were let go immediately. I wouldn’t be shocked if they’re doing it this way specifically to get around WARN.

Post ID: @ca+1kf15bhvn

Anyone else know how ALDI is able to get off without doing the WARN notices? Unless I’m reading it wrong they should be competing notices due to the number of employees.

Also how is this staying out of the media? Those who don’t know someone at ALDI don’t know about the layoffs… it’s insane.

I get having to make changes, I get having to cut costs, but why the multi-million dollar remodel if they have to cut costs elsewhere and outsource? If they are so successful in the US why are they sending our jobs back to Germany and now to India?!

“Growth for the sake of growth is the ideology of the cancer cell.”
It’s the first thing I think of every time we see a celebratory post about how great we’re doing immediately followed by a round of layoffs. What’s the end goal here, Atty?

Atty taking over as CEO was a horrible decision. She clearly is incompetent. The whole Moments that matter model is also complete BS. People first? Yeah, right. Once NIT is eliminated good luck getting service from Hungary and TCS in India. A company I was once proud to work for has become a complete joke. I've been in the executive townhalls - the US is doing great, better than ever - so why the layoffs?

@at a director on other forums said after HR next is NIT. The reality is they had this planned for a long time. They are staffing like crazy overseas to eliminate NIT. Scary times AHEAD! Better start looking right away and do whats best for your families!

Our OTL and 1 Benefits Assistant were terminated, effective immediately. They are not allowed to reenter the building to get their things or say goodbye. Our remaining benefits assistant has been given no guidance on the transition and the one laid off was not able to transfer any information/knowledge/etc. Absolutely insane.

Crazy how ALDI announces all the growth with new stores and Divisions - but offers no internal growth and now is outsourcing everything. The service is going to be horrible - but hey at least the NBO can still get their bonuses and say how much money they saved.
