Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

I’m quitting next week

That’s it, yall. After 8 years here in IT, I’m quitting with nothing lined up. I genuinely cannot do this anymore. Sure, the market is horrendous, but I have enough saved up and my health matters more. I’ll be free to apply to jobs and network in peace, and able to focus on what matters in my life. Godspeed to anyone else who is stuck in this “company”. I should’ve just AEOI’d but i was naive. Oh well, new chapter! Sayonara! ✌🏿

@pj nothing wrong with using the savings you’ve earned working to go and live a little.

There’s more to life than just work, and especially more to life than work that slowly ki-ls you.

@d6 You say, ".... lack good decision making skills. LMAO, as if you know me."
I know you well enough to say you lack objective decision making skills because you are not using logic. You have already told everyone on this web page you are quitting without having a job. I hope you live in your parents basement because wasting your savings while you look for a job is a bad decision. I don't care how you look at it. You can work at a snails pace while you collect your paycheck and look for a job.
Whatever you do, don't tell anyone on an interview that you quit without a job, they will never hire you. God Speed, Wiseman!!!

I left CVX IT after 15 years there in wave 1. Best thing I ever did…

@gh the downvotes are mostly bots, especially when you see a bunch of them come in quickly. I have watched the numbers climb up astronomically. Someone already pointed out that this is the work of a troll, but as predicted their comment got deleted (probably the work of said troll). I wouldn't be surprised if this reply got deleted, as well.

Good for you and good luck. I doubt you'll regret it for one second. Do yourself a favor and don't come back and waste your time here.

@ca: nope, not a troll. I have nearly 6 figures saved up and this is negatively affecting my health. Thanks for your “concern” though and for saying i lack good decision making skills. LMAO, as if you know me. Enjoy rotting at Chevron!

If the OP is a real person he/she is not an objective decision maker. You are always better off having a job while searching for a job. You get offered a job way under your desired pay level and be desperate and you will need to take it.
I hope the OP is a troll and not really this bad at decision making.

Why quit and leave? Quit and stay.

That buys you a few quarters (or more likely, years) to snag a new role while getting paid in the interim.
