Thread regarding HCSC (Health Care Service Corporation) layoffs

HCSC is a disaster

300 layoffs. Not everybody at the same time. People that has been with the company for more than 10 years were let go just a few days before Open Enrollment. When staff in key positions are let go, it usually signals something beyond “normal turnover.” It could affect severance, morale, and how the remaining team should respond. HCSC is a disaster, and they are using the washington argument to do that. It is a lie! No communication at all.

@a7+1k60xsqgh said it perfectly.

When your managers meet with you to tell you that they also have no clue what is going on and who is impacted, it is horrifying. Me because I been here long enough to have a pension? Jane because she was recently promoted? Jim because his name was hit with the dart they apparently threw at the wall? There is no rhyme or reason to any of it, no warning, no meeting to say there is trouble brewing and we have to pinch pennies and watch our budget closer as a corporation. “Everything is great here at HCSC,” in our Town Halls and then sh*t hits the fan for hundreds of people. The rest of us are left to sift through the wreckage, feel less secure in our jobs, and wonder when the other shoe will drop while Maurice sits atop his fat stack of cash and will get a bigger bonus for heading up the charge. We all got an email afterward, though. I feel warm and fuzzy now, how about you?

@ca The corporate governance here is completely broken on so many levels. The only checks and balances for incompetent unethical leadership are the checks they write themselves, and the balances in their bank accounts.

The goal of HCSC is to get the upper tier executives their highest bonuses...$5 million, $10 million, and yes...$20 million or more.

Laying off some minions making $65k to $150k will not make up their losses from their bad decisions, but that is almost sacrifice they are willing to make to get their money. SC--W THE EMPLOYEES...and our members. The first directive is to make execs their big money!
