Anyone else feel like just coasting until next Thursday’s announcement? Not motivated to do much until I know one way or the other.

@bz kind of agreed. I love my job, my team makes noticable impacts to the business. I love getting into the sh-t on a problem and fixing it. But right now I'm just so terrified we'll be gone (everyone from my director on down is WFH but one). We just got a new assignment from an SVP, hopefully that's a good sign, but my anxiety is getting ROUGH man.
Hey, that ever-increasing executive compensation has to come from somewhere.
@c9 actually, we got where we are today due to late stage capitalism, extreme corporate greed, politicians that are in the pocket of businesses and vote against the best interest of our workforce, overinflated executive pay packages that reward poor leadership decisions, & an AI and outsourcing obsessed executive culture that gives zero f*cks about their employees.
STOP blaming this on employees expecting SOME level of stability to support their families! What Verizon and a bunch of other corporations are doing with these mass layoffs is GROSS and shouldn't even be legal guess they are going out of business! I've lost all respect for this company based on how pi-s poor they have handled this. This company is still making BILLIONS in profit and got handed more tax breaks that will mKe them even more profitable. They could trim and
make adjustments without creating mass layoffs and panic for their entire workforce. The fact that ANYONE defends this behavior is astonishing.
Checked out until I know further. What’s the point of exceeding expectations if I get cut?
Tell ya what - my motivation cratered right about Labor Day. It was made clear that the top priority was a butt in a seat, so I've adjusted my outlook to match. Ported out my families four lines as well.
When productivity becomes important again, I'm open to considering a change back. Until then, just ki-ling time.
Noticeable already. Can't get anyone to do anything. We are till getting paid today, we should still be working today. I get it, but also.... come on.
Exactly! Let's start with folks too lazy and/or illiterate to spell complex words like "people", "have", and "work".
See ya.
I wish I could. But - and I know this makes me a corporate simp - I really like my job. It's stressful, challenging - one train wreck after another. It's honestly my dream job.
And as scared as I am that it'll be over on Thursday, I can't help but keep at it. After all, gotta enjoy it while I can
Its very noticeable. Calls are very lightly attended or canceled. Emails have slowed greatly. You can feel and smell it in the air. People are pulling back and doing very little till they know if they'll have a job still by the end of the month.
Our management team basically advised us to stop taking new work. That's about all I needed to know the end is near. Good luck all.
He-l yes!!
100%
@OP hopefully they'll get rid of ppl who hv no wk ethic.
Yeah im not coasting at 5% until I figure out if I got a job
I am with you. Sc--w hatchet Dan.
In my opinion, if you’re coasting because of this, you probably coast all the time.
A lot of people have been coasting for a very long time, making six figures doing next to nothing and complaining about any work at all. Doubt much is really impacted after the exodus.
Intentionally? No, but I feel constantly distracted and unable to concentrate on my work. I keep trying to figure out the chances that I will be rif'd
"The thing is, Bob, it's not that I'm lazy, it's that I just don't care".
It’s probably most of us in here…although some won’t admit it.
