Thread regarding CDW layoffs

When to resign?

When is the most ideal time from a compensation and benefits standpoint to resign from a commissions/bonus sales position? At the beginning, middle or end of a month? Do we get paid for the last month of commissions worked if the payday is a month later when you're already resigned?

@4gq
Yes... if you quit or get fired before a payout...whatever balance you have is forfeit

Do you only get paid SPIFFs if you are employed on the day they are paid out?

@2kx Would also like to know this.. Do we even offer the 2 weeks just for them to say we leave that day?

I've heard rumors of legacy Sirius people leaving. Anytime I hear a name, I never heard of them. But I am legacy CDW and I honestly don't know any of them besides a handful of names (and they are all still here).
From the CDW side, I have seen a ton of people gripe and groan (understandably) but nobody has actually left that I know. Truth is we all have been complaining for years and then go back to working with our customers and figuring out how to "sell more". My linkedin feed (since others mentioned it) is just the usual CDW people posting the same stuff and the partners posting about their great events or days in the office or dinners they hosted.
I will say this, it was hectic in January and took a while but things have started to settle down again.

@2mw
I left once I saw my new book and saw they didn't spend much time other than matching rev and gp #'s. Only plus was I didn't get shorted but they always say...past performance isn't reflective of future sales.
I started before CDW could sell Dell and made enough $ in my years where I don't NEED to work.
All I see on LinkedIn now are people announcing they're quitting with some having new gigs and others seemingly unemployed. Seems like more people are leaving than getting fired recently.

@2mw my LinkedIn feed has been a steady stream of excellent sales and engineering talent exiting for months now, many of them legacy Sirius. 10, 15, 20+ years of talent and relationships voluntarily walking out the door, every week. I started noticing it before, but especially since, the new GTM strategy was announced last year. Some are jumping to another company right away, some are taking a pause to figure things out. They are not sticking around for revised comp plans / increased workload / unwelcome account realignment / unrealistic goals that all adds up to a lot more work for less pay. Can’t blame ‘em one bit!

Anybody actually good ever quit? I hear people threaten to quit all the time due to the go to market changes, EBO, Sales Operations changes, etc. But I have yet to see a name I actually know or think of as a high performer leave.

Has anyone in sales recently resigned? Do they have you leave the same day?

Can't speak for others but I left end of last year. I believe since it was end of year...insurance went through end of the month. Then I got the Cobra info a few weeks later. Cobra can last 6 months but you're covering both ends of the premium. Probably better to get on ACA or spouses insurance instead of trying to save $

When do healthcare benefits end if you resign?

@13e
They hope that fear is instilled in everyone regardless of role or how much $ you make or have.
There's times of hiring and times of layoffs. But not one company or boss is paying you in time...time you'll never get back.
Living life feeling trapped...many people feel the same way... part of the trap is trapping yourself.
Ask yourself...how many places offer you the same pay and benefits for the same daily grind.
One of Krasny's old sayings..."you sometimes create your own luck" or "luck is oftentimes disguised as hard work"... one of those. Being scared doesn't solve anything...best get ahead of bad news especially when you yourself described a sinking ship. Search for a lifeboat in-between tasks.

Look at last year’s pay stubs in Workday. For me, my 2024 company bonus and 401(k) match came in the last week of July.

@wb aren’t you lucky that you can afford not to work. I cannot and I am scared. Scared to quit and scared to be here watching this ship sink. They own me and they know it. I clean your dishes inthe break room and you never thank me. I push your orders through and you have never once reached out.

@w2
I'm "qr" ... I was a tenured top performer and left on my own. In a space in life where I can choose to work but don't need to or need anymore $ to live comfortably.
CDW is and will do AI like they're currently doing everything else (terribly).
Customer loyalty was because of solid AM's and the backbone that supported them which leadership has and is currently gutting.
Many are stuck because of family priorities, lifestyle/spending choices, etc but customers are realizing that the quality they used to get is slowly changing and if it gets worse...maybe dealing with an AI bot will be better for them. Imagine if TD or Ingram just sold direct to customers as they already partner with all the MFG's...CDW just makes pushing boxes easier for the disty's and MFG's but many ex CDW tenured sellers are working for smaller VAR's and making more $ with less red tape, stress, and BS. The whole "maybe the grass isn't greener on the other side" mental game might've applied years ago but today no. The special sauce is gone or slowly being watered down and leadership counts on a tough job market and economy for pushing the boundaries of how much they can push people before they leave on thier own or by forcing mgt's hand.
I miss Harold the Chat bot...how much did that cost to remind us to change our password 🤣
Maybe Harold can be updated and just replace everyone. If only AI replaced the C-suite...maybe my shares would be worth what they were in mid 2024.
Couldn't say this stuff while there since you'd get passed over on accounts and micro-managed into a PIP but I can see from this site....so many are in the same boat and have similar thoughts.
Hoping for the best for the solid ex-coworkers that can't escape for whatever reason.

@qr There will be a mass layoff. All you people will be replaced by the ai, and when that happens, you’ll be longing for the days of CDW when you had a shred of self-worth. What’s even more ironic is you are all scrambling to build your own agentic replacements. Enjoy your fate dummies.

@OP
If you can last...keep going and wait for a layoff. Seems like things are getting worse rather than better maybe there will be a mass layoff again.
Oracle just let go of 30,000 people.

@ea I left in January and it was one of the best career decisions I have made. Having been away from CDW for a couple of months and putting time and space between me and it, I can honestly say it's of the most toxic and rudderless work environments I have ever encountered.

@c7 In the past I would totally put in 2 weeks.
No, heck no. They won't give you 2 weeks heads of when they are letting you go.

Go work for a competitor if you want to work for a competitor. What are they really going to do? Sue you? You know the amount of lawsuits they’d have to file if they went after everyone who left for the competition?

@c7 in sales, no. They will lock you out if you are going to a competitor. They have 3-12 month non solicitations on everyone as well.

Also considering this. Does anyone put in 2 weeks anymore or do they still have you leave the same day?

Check your amp. You have to be here on the day they are paid. My recommendation is waiting until around business day 4 though. Reason being is adjustments should be final for month you finished. Example if your March amp is low, April 6th would be when you leave. Take screenshots of your order router, commissions and final check. You would get your March commission in April like normal less AMP.

Being EOQ march amp may be big in which case you want to wait until May.

Then watch your checks. They sc--wed with mine and I have heard people are skating my invoices so I will be contacting a lawyer if they don't fix them which is why I downloaded my order router
