Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Will Dell exist in 15 years?

With the recent tension with labor and the fact nobody will even be using standard computers in 5 years per Elon Musk I am curious to know what others think about Dell being around in 15 years

@OP MD stepped down from CEO in 2004-2007, and when Dell started to struggle, he took over again, and hasn't hinted about stepping away since. It's my belief, when he is ready to step away, Dell will be broken up and sold without the Name and he will retire the Brand. He started it, he ends it because he can't not be the captain of the ship with his name on it.

@c7 Let's not forget Digital Equipment Corporation. Once the world's second largest computer company. It was acquired by Compaq and then HP.

And Elon also said that we’d be living on Mars by 2024. Elon is not the end all be all in tech. He’s a mouth piece that gets billions in tax dollars a year to play astronaut.

PCs are high volume but low margin, so they’re not the main profit driver. The real money comes from enterprise servers, storage, and cloud infrastructure, plus services and long-term support contracts. Financing and subscriptions help lock in customers and create steady, recurring revenue.

not to mention all our sales aren getting let go from Dell and getting rehired by competitors. They're not recommending Dell to their customers. I hope this has a long term affect.

@aw many countries are moving to Lenovo, Apple, basically out of Microsoft ecosystem, the whole South Korean government is already migrated out of the AI BS known as Microslop and Dell is extremely bound to that terrible company.

Who knows. I certainly don’t put any stock in what EM says though…he can’t even predict what his own companies are going to do.

Keep in mind that Dell isn't JUSt a consumer product seller... They make far more money via storage/servers than anything else...

Yes, I believe they will. I don't think they will be a "powerhouse" in 15 years though. Hate or love Dell, doesn't matter. It's fact that Dell DOES dominate government, schools, and small business's in regards to PC sales and even monitors...

HP and Lenovo are great but they don't have the MASS market like Dell does. HP almost certainly beats out Dell for average consumers - college kids, cheap gaming comps, etc... - but Lenovo? Who tf even buys those? Seriously...

I didn't even know they existed until I joined Dell lol. Walk into damn near any store, library, business, etc... and they are either using a Dell computer or a Dell monitor.

So yes, Dell will exist in 15 years however, unless they start inovating sh-t then they will be taken over by smaller companies such as Razer, Asus, etc...

their enterprise server/storage profits are far bigger than consumer products profits so even personal computing devices go dead, Dell does not seem to go away
