Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The state of the company, 2026 edition

  • WF will drain your patience
  • We're all just headcount lines
  • revews are always hanging over you
  • Formal warning = slow exit
  • One mistake will follow you
  • RTO is control, not collaboration
  • Badge reports replaced trust
  • Office hours matter more than output
  • Commute is your problem
  • Morale is your problem
  • Town halls are performative theater
  • Location strategy keeps moving the target
  • Offshoring is omnipresent and has no end
  • Politics always beats merit
  • Silence is safest
  • Speaking's risky
  • Everyone is trying to look essential
  • But... Everyone is tired
  • C-level lineup = the grift brigade
  • Trust is long gone
  • The job is no longer doing the work (it's surviving)

I REGRET taking the employee survey this year. They got us real good when THEY forced us to answer about AI usage before we could hit submit.

Please don't forget...

• We don't care if you do anything meaningful with Copilot, but you'd better use it three days per week. We've got millions of dollars we need to write off for that technological popcorn fa-t.

I have been around long enough to watch the full decline from the start. It's an accurate list. I opened up on the "anonymous" survey again this year; they can bite me. The only "super excited" inmates are the very new ones.

@dv not really news to tech. Many of us got the scripted "your job may be affected in Q3" pre-notice call. I'm just irritated I have to pretend to be busy for the next 5 weeks.

I've come to the conclusion that only five people write new - very similar - topics to this site. And yet, each time I check in I am hopeful I'll see something useful.

(Rumor from someone who seems to know cr-p before it hits: Q3 - target of next large tech layoff. We shall see.)

It's times like these when malicious compliance comes in handy.

@c6 You must work in corporate properties with how concerned you are about office chairs staying warm. That, or you own a coffee shop near an office building.

Of course trust is long gone most of the staff employees couldn't be bothered to go to the office 4 hours a day
