Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

LinkedIn Jobs Galore

Anyone else think it’s hilarious that Chevron went through this reorg thinking people cared enough about the company to stay.. then they saw results.. now posting jobs externally on LinkedIn.. how embarrassing

They have certainly changed the culture. They have broken the link between management and workers. Not many care to listen to their bullsh-t anymore.

@c6. They are trying to change the culture to be more like Exxon. This is becoming more directly and decisively obvious. The MN video mentioned a new PMP with a new ranking. MN said ranking, not rating.

Doing the math … I take it that I did not get the job I internally applied for on Wednesday and is now open until mid July externally. I doubt my PDR has even represented me yet. What is funny is that I complete my talent card 2 months back and this job description looks like it plagiarized it .

@am this is what I think chevron is actually doing. After a few acquisitions, they've realized people from smaller companies can handle more and are actually willing to do so with a smile. Do they're slowly trying to change the culture of chevron to operate more like a smaller company.

There were definitely jobs unfilled in the selection that are now being posted externally. Ever thought about the possibility that Chevron doesn’t want you and prefer someone who actually is better on the outside?

Saw a couple of land rep jobs in Houston and Covington.

@a5 I think OP is claiming either that:

A. Chevron had a bunch of jobs left unfilled after the reorg and PDC because of an unexpected level of EOIs and is now trying to fill them with LinkedIn listings.

B. Chevron lost a lot of people who landed roles they didn't like and have already jumped ship, or who liked their roles well enough but already had one foot out the door after how MW & co. handled this whole thing.

If what's happening is #A, I think that _would_ be funny if they're actually trying to fill them, but it would not surprise me if these are fake listings to make it look like they're hiring for roles they never plan on filling or plan on filling with H1Bs.

But if what's happening is #B, yeah, it actually is pretty dang funny. Especially from where I am standing.
