Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

You shouldn't quit

We lost too many folks lately to quitting. Why are you doing this horrible leadership favors? They're overjoyed whenever anybody leaves because that means they save money on severance. Just wait it out. At this point, it's a matter of time before most of us are laid off. Which means that you're losing out on severance by walking away.

Be careful volunteering for severance. I heard someone did this, and a short time after that received email from manager accepting resignation. Then sudden script pops up and all connection lost. No severance, no unemployment.

Voluntary attrition is goal.

Severance agreement buys bank non disclosure, non disparagement, no recruiting clauses.

If you know things, let them buy silence.

It’s just business.

@c5 If you get laid off you are ALSO entitled to unemployment. And you absolutely should file for it.

Give me severance or I will tap in to your unemployment insurance dollars.

I agree with OP's concept, that it really does help the MC when you quit. But at the same time, if you are absolutely miserable here (which lately many are), why stick around? Yes, ideally I'd just get laid off and take my severance and run... but if that doesn't happen before I just can't take it anymore, then life's too short. Time to go.

@OP . Exactly. I'm staying until I get a severance
I've earned it.

I am in the same boat, can't seem to adjust my attitude. I am not on coasting mode for the remainder of my career and my skills are languishing here. Just the act of logging on each day sours my mood. No raise? Work harder! Do more! Nope, can't pretend. This isn't going to work.

I genuinely hope the world starts rioting against large companies and build our own small businesses.

The bank has the superior hand but that doesn't mean anyone should suffer their mismanagement if better options exist. Do what's in your best interest.

The constant stress and changes makes it impossible for me to be an effective worker.

I understand this sentiment, but I can't any take it any longer. Even told my manager in the last round of Lay-offs, pick me! Save someone else. Nope...
