Thread regarding PayPal layoffs

Shocked nothing has happened since the new CEO took over, starting to get comfortable again.

Paypal Needs a minimum 40% toilet flush of useless middle managment, project managers, etc. Stock will pop!

@bc still seems like a very bloated company on the surface...

@c3 "Strengthen the Core" is a hollow promise without staffing and time dedicated to all the components used in prod systems.

Nothing will happen untill after q1 earnings call. Fact! That is in terms of mass layoffs and if it will at all. There are silent layoffs happening all the time, not in high numbers. The CEO is an engineer by trade, let's take our new favorite tool AI, and ask it what he will do. Does not matter what AI you ask, his MO is clear.

From the 1st year I joined there have been layoffs and every year since. I just get on with it and over a decade later am still here. Just do your job and get on with your life.

"Strengthening the core" does not seem consistent with mass layoffs. We might see some layoffs but should be limited. Once the core is "strengthened", then we might see more. How long it will take is the question. Try to be happy in your job and relax.

I think there’s already silent layoff happening. If you look at the global announcement Slack channel, there’s only 27.2k people. I think that’s around 100-200 less from few weeks ago. I remember that channel used to be 27.3 - 27.4k
