Thread regarding Chevron Corp. layoffs

Chevron is trash

Chevron is full of toxic people who are lazy and if you’re a hard worker and go against the grain you get fired. Toxic a-s employees and employer

Managers are toxic!!! They move people up who are not qualified just because they have a relative that works there!!! This is the norm in the midland texas office!!! Kick backs are notorious in this office and HR just looks the other way right cason!!!

@OP This is every company with more than 1,000 employees.

I’ve learned to just tune out the noise and get my deliverables to my boss on time. I sleep well at night, and I wish you the same.

The majority of toxic people are in management positions.

I agree with you the people remaining have a bumpy road ahead. I survived Phase 1 and after July 1st the place is off the rails. It is surprising how much is changed and getting things done is 80% slower now. I will stick around until the next "Re-org", then EOI....

Use Google translator next time you want to write something on the layoff site.

Agree with you 100%. 2 years and GTFO. This company is trash and probably one of the worst to work for in the sp500.

I concur. Hey down vote BOTs, get a real job.

As a full time Slacker who finished over 30 years with the Company and many reorgs, I find your comment insulting to us who knew what our Leaders wanted. In the meantime I’m Slacking at home during my retirement and my wife keeps yelling at me to vacuum the house do the laundry wash the cars blah blah blah. It’s football season Honey give a man a break who worked so hard to provide a nice retirement.

Op I disagree. The majority of the trash is the managers and CEO. There are alot of good people at Chevron but they usually get pushed aside by the managers that are threatened by anyone underneath them that have more knowledge, education, and experience. In other words the people that make the company go.

@bs:

@ac+1k64bzwpg here — thanks for your nice response.

You know, despite all the awfulness, the one bright spot for me has been the support that colleagues have given one another. That human kindness (including jokes to lift our spirits) has really been what still makes me feel like it was worth it to work here, because I got to experience some great colleagues (not all, of course).

One more comment: we only have one life. If being here adds so much stress and misery to make one sick, including from a mental health perspective , then that is too great a price to pay, in my opinion.

I wish all of us the strength to get through these trying times.

I don’t think it’s fair to call Chevron trash. While the leadership has failed its employees not all people there are bad. Rather than be bitter remember there are many good people impacted by this poor leadership. I was also terminated. While I’m not happy to look for another job I have been unhappy since the last reorganization in 2020. I do not like the direction of the company. EOI gives us another chance for some happiness at work. Those still employed have a bumpy road ahead.

@OP

That's why I refuse to ever work hard for Chevron. Guaranteed job security.

Maybe you can incorporate this into your future roles.

@ac what a really nice reply, and I've made the same observations and hate this bloody company but it's still hard to lose a job/income.
I needed to hear this today too
Thankyou.

@OP dont worry let them believe toxic that's all they got left. That's why no one getting increase pay rate. Instead you all have these options: accept the low pay rate, quit, or get laid off choose your pick becuase after chevron. Your an illegal hire from over shores a DEI. If only other contractors knew, I bet they would stop completely and all you'll have is collateral damage in the end. Please do continue to entertain other companies after all the toxic people and me no speak English are all doing this to themselves. Hahahahaha!

@OP I am sorry because it sounds like you have lost your job. I feel for you and hope you have some support via family and friends to help you through this.

I observed a lot of really good people being laid off in this reorg. It is unfair, no other way to say this.

I survived but just barely. My selection rep was God-awful, and it was clear that preferential treatment occurred, given who was in closed positions and who landed in positions for which they are obviously unqualified.

Right now I am just focusing on getting through the next 18 months, and then I hope to leave this place.

Good luck to you, OP.
