You know people keep saying things like "change Tech to help the business" etc with derision. You just have no idea that Tech is part of the Nike Engine. If you have a computer, we are helping you do your job on the daily, it's just like the power company you just dont care until the power is off. So yeah take it for granted, eventually stupid mgmt will hack to deep and oh noes look we DO need Tech.

@cn I've heard the opposite, that Program might get hit. Now, that may not mean that they get laid off, but the org itself might get changed up completely...

constant fear of living on the edge is painful on h1b; to add to the misery, we purchased an expensive house in No*th Bhy; should we start making calls to our realtor to list the house?

Pretty insensitive to spend all that money on JDI day, rave about reviving our “culture” and announcing layoffs literally two days later. Makes all the BS spewed by EH and MD completely disingenuous.

Has it started in ITC ?

Safe groups will be EDAI, Tech Ops, Architecture, ITC and Poland.

MD is best. She knows what to do. EH can’t remove MD because he can’t run Tech for a second and it’ll take time to get a new leader. So MD will cruise for some time

|Any code to look in Slack this time? I suppose they've learned their lesson this time.

This information is available and readable to everyone at the company. There's no hiding it. You just don't know where to look.

@br HR always says that because they don’t want every single employee asking. So of course a lot of people are going to believe that.

You are getting FIRED… or whatever politically correct way you want to say it. You think that Nike is going to “have your back” and give you a gracious package? They will try and pay you nothing.
You are being let go… Ask for the world.
Ever since the Rat this sh-t has been going on.

Just ask. They are going to fire you anyway. You should review termination documents with a lawyer if you can afford one anyway.

@bm I had 4 people refusing to sign, they wanted to speak to HR. I let HR know, they set up a separate meeting without me- I got guidance from HR that a new letter would be getting sent to the employees with a new amount. They advised if I had any conversations similar in the future I could proceed with accepting an amount under 3x the employees pay without getting legal involved. No one ever talked about it. I was surprised.
Granted this was 4 years ago, but it doesn’t hurt to ask.

Many instances of VP reporting to VP reporting to VP (not kidding)!! Same with some SD and D. More people to “Manage” work than people to “Do” the actual work. These should be streamlined.

I hope that y’all are not signing anything right away and let them know you will review it with your lawyer and come back and ask for just under 3x your salary.

@b8 Large employers in Oregon do not need to file a notice until more than 500 employees at Oregon sites are laid off.

Employers also have the option to pay in lieu of giving notice.

There was no WARN notice filed so it’s not going to be that significant. You all need to calm down.

I don’t think this is going to have a major impact on FTE staffing. They already made a lot of ETW cuts, this is the whole reason a company hires ETWs, so they can easily reduce labor costs when business needs change. My guess is more targeted exits of leaders who were left over from the last round who still don’t perform.

I do think the reorganization is going to be substantial. The organization is a mess and it needs to be drastically simplified if they want to move faster and actually help the business.
