Would you take a pay cut to be remote? Or at least forgo your bonus?
I'd do both. Take note MC!

I just left for a fully remote role AND a 40% total pay raise
@r1 I left a fully remote role for a two day in office hybrid role that paid $10k less. That’s how much I hated working for his company.
I like going in to collaborate in a special way. I have a Hearty breakfast of dried apricots, Kashi Go-lean crunch with oat milk and a helping of broccoli.
Couple hours after I arrive I emanate all sorts of effervescent collaboration! good times. And they pay me to do this!!!
Absolutely, reserving space and commuting an hour each way a day in traffic to sit at a dirty desk with sick people everywhere I’d rather sit at home for less money no problem. I worked at a company that offered that ability people were offered early retirement or they could work remotely for less I chose remotely.
I did! and have not regretted my decision at all. Started at the bank in 2016 as a fully remote employee. Left at the end of 2024 just as RTO was rolled out in my market. Told my boss I wouldn’t being returning because I was resigning. when she asked why I told her it’s because of RTO. My job now pays me about $20k less per year but is fully remote and a lot less stressful. If you have the chance, definitely jump ship.
Put it this way, hired full time remote more than a decade ago, simply because my business line has no presence in this market. I didn't get a raise to start reporting to a HUB. Where's my raise for dealing with this HUB BS?
@j8 Same here. I pray to God every day that he punishes them for what they are taking from us. These millionaires taking from small people should feel the fury coming to them.
@hc true. I went from E to C. I lost a potential of 15k in wage increases to get me to midpoint over the next x years. Now I’m over mid. No more merit increases for me.
Some remote employees may have already felt the impact, perhaps without fully realizing it.
When the company adjusted pay bands for remote roles, it affected many remote workers. One of the key factors in determining merit increases was an employee’s position within their pay band, measured as a percentage. Employees above a certain threshold were not eligible for merit increases.
By lowering the pay bands, the company not only reduced the overall compensation range but also moved more employees closer to or beyond that threshold. As a result, many saw a decrease in their eligibility for merit increases, which effectively reduced their potential compensation even if their performance remained strong.
@dz apparently they make money based on how many days and hours a week and a-s is in a desk. Not by having products people want and customer service that's decent enough to retain customer. They seem sound on this strategy.
You are compensated for the work you do and the perceived value you add to the Bank. Shouldn't have anything to do with where you office from.
Remote employees already essentially enjoy a pay increase by not using gas, not putting miles on cars, not having to pay for childcare or other commute related expenses. As a remote employees, my wife and I feel lucky. We've saved so much since COVID that we've shaved 12 years off a 30 year mortgage
He-l no. Don’t think MC or GK would take a pay cut? Just look at their salaries. They give us pay cuts every year by not paying us properly.
Yes. Although I already received no raise and a significantly smaller bonus, so I guess that means I can work from home now?
Not sure what makes you so hostile. As I stated, my choice is for me alone. Calm down. You also don't know what my working environment is like at home, or if there may be other factors at play here.
How long does it take to fire you once you stop coming to office?
I am able to retire so I am able to take 100% paycut. Just stopped going in. Gonna waste time of manager chain, HR, legal while they paper my file for firing.
I will not provide professional courtesy of retirement notice.
Stealth wealth is my super power.
Getting away from bootlickers like you would be worth taking any type of cut.
Absolutely if it was an option. I'm in a state where gas is +$6.50 a gal and between gas and traffic I'd be happy to go remote.
To each their own, but I would not. I am hybrid and would prefer to comply with the guidelines for RTO rather than voluntarily accept a pay cut. But that's just my opinion for myself.
I mean, I turned down a job that would have paid me more because it was hybrid so that I could take my fully remote job before being told I had to come in, so I guess I took a double pay cut?
If you don't live in a high rent house near the office and don't have to pay for gas and other fees, the pay cut is a reasonable. What's the problem at all?
If you take a look at some of the previous messages on here, you'll see that there are people that have commented here that they said no to a higher paying in-office position at another company in order to take what was originally a remote position at U.S. Bank.
HE-L NO!!!!
