Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Target Does Not Care

Your leader knew and did not tell you sooner.

The person who shook your hand and smiled at you in the elevator knew and didnt tell you sooner.

The Meetings you were not invited to was not coincidence but deliberate.

The Conference you went to and your Sr. Leader said your jobs were safe... lied to you.

Those friends that say they will keep in touch, soon will fade. Remember this for you are even in this situation again you will be able to read the signs sooner.

@113 Listen I'm not here debating anyone and as a Former Leader myself.... I saw this coming 2.5 years ago. I am open to chatting offline, but what I am eluding to is whether they were informed directly or not... They should have felt the vibe.

@dt Quite a few of those "leaders" at the Director level were laid off. They didn't know. Ask me how I know lol.

@fd Again, A Leader has the awareness to view the shift in business needs, initiatives and staffing forecasts. If they don't they are likely not qualified to be in said position. They literally sit in a meeting once a month reviewing this kind of information. Let alone "status"s with their SVP's and other leaders to have the awareness that this is coming. These are cognitive choices to not tip off their teams to avoid any backlash, sabotage etc.

No one below SVP knew until maybe Monday. My leader certainly didn’t know.

@d7 Bad decision after Bad decision....

"Let's put Ulta in Stores which we cant procure the fixtures for & WE KNOW THIS, cant staff for and will eventually just lock up all the merch that people want to by because we believe they will order it on line.... Also since we committed to Wall St. the number of Ulta's we will open, we will aggressively fail at implementing them miserably.

3 years later.... We are ending our partnership with Ulta. .... NO SH-T

@by By Targets definition of Leader.... Director, Sr Director etc. Even if they were not directly told a leader should be able to read the writing on the wall and give THEIR team direction, even if it is "off the cuff".

"Hey, have you ever explored new roles in XYZ". "Would you ever consider XYZ"

Again a leader knows, its just if they choose to be human or just another robot.

@c1 on interesting I didn't realize she was so bad...I do think the comments about her weight are uncalled for though. Unless shes bullying others for their appearance?? I'm in A&A and thought for sure MO or some of the design directors would be affected. They've now added another layer below her with new open Sr director positions. So much for eliminating layers and redundancy! Keeping in place, or elevating the people whose poor aesthetic opinions drove our assortment choices is wiiiillld.

Depending on your definition of leaders this is simply not true.

No company cares and they aren’t your family. Your manager doesn’t care either.

You are a mercenary to your employer and should act as such. The fact that most of the people I see laid off on LI from my Target days had put 20+ years in says it all. To companies each of us is a line in a spreadsheet where our total cost in salary and benefits is the only number that matters.
