They ignore market trends when it comes to pay but jump at the chance to follow every layoff headline. Leadership seems more focused on matching the worst behavior in the industry than setting any kind of positive standard. It’s reactive and tone-deaf. Not all that surprising, though.

The place is a hole. I left last year after complete frustration with the incompetence and dishonesty. I can honestly say, it was the worst job I've ever had. After this experience, I left corporate and will never go back. I plan on retiring in a few years and hopefully forgetting I ever got involved with this dump.
@gs I am also glad to be gone. This place turned into such a SHlTHOLE.
@a4 I was RIF’d in the first layoff last August. I was told on my 62nd birthday after 13 years of service. Nice, huh? I received full pay for 6 months and benefits for 10 months even though I was told by multiple HR reps losing medical on 3/1 not, in fact, 7/1. I had I already secured medical insurance on the ASA effective 3/1. Id--ts IMO. I inadvertently got two retirement gifts, one after I got let go and another one was offered to me again just this month. He-l yeah, I took it! I also still got a portion of my bonus for 2024. They did me dirty and in hindsight, I’m so glad to be gone because I heard the morale has tanked. I now consider myself lucky I was in the first RIF group. I cannot imagine working there and constantly worrying if I’m next. I took a year off and decided to take my SS at age 63. I’m SO over the Corporate World BS!
@c2 I’ve had same doctor for years and knows where I work and said it has gotten worse dealing with insurance, so bad it has become unbearable.
@c1 Same here. All of my providers say Anthem/EH is one of the worst to try to get reimbursement from and PAs approved. As employees of the company, they are shocked at how high our deductibles are.
@ed They 100% read the site and it infuriates them when rif info leaks.
@e4 Haha remember when they thought not reimbursing anesthesia fully was a good idea. They would have gone through with it too had UHC president didn’t get shot. They backtracked on that due to circumstances for sure.
@cc We can’t get layoff information anymore. People in the know that shared dates either got riffed or are too scared to post due to SLT monitoring this site. I don’t believe they waste their time reading anything on this site but seems everyone else does. They might actually learn something if they did.
@e4 Same. Not bi--hing about reimbursement just how difficult Elevance is to work with and how they deny treatment that most others deem standard of care.
They're id--ts all they know is layoff, ship to offshore or have Ai do it. They have no other recourse for there actions.
@cc doesn't complain about reimbursement rates - says often they cannot get timely responses to treatment auths. My MD asks me if I am ok, shares he treats alot of Anthem employees with increase health issues they attribute to the stress of where they work. Not unprofessional at all to share that the treatment or examination he wants may be delayed due to slow poor or no response from Anthem but he will continue to press for it -
I don’t tell where or what I do when I’m at a drs visit. I say something like I do gig work or something non insurance related. Visits go better.
@c1: Kind of unprofessional of the doctor to gripe to a patient about where the patient works/insurance company. Yeah, the reimbursement rates are low (but the premiums are high); but still, not an appropriate discussion topic during a patient visit.
This site (for Anthem at least) has moved away from lay off insights and more towards a b*tchfest. But deservedly so.

This is what happens when there is substandard leadership across the C suite.
And following other companies with RTO mandate that is backfiring big time. JP Morgan doesn’t have desk space for people and Starbucks corporate employees disgruntled as well. They say it isn’t meant to force employees to quit but I don’t believe that for a second. Sigh, this company is so uninspiring.

@a2 Too cheap to offer structured early retirement packages for folks nearing retirement age and are at the end of their careers. Instead, they choose to cut younger people with young kids who are just starting out or mid-career.
It’s too bad they didn’t copy UHC and give voluntary riffs as an option. So many people want the riff but aren’t, while others being riffed that want to stay.
