At a high-level, the top five banks are very similar but the best way to think about Bank is that they are really a collection of different divisions, such as branches, brokerage, mortgage, business, banking, etc. And at any moment in time, depending on the leadership of the division, the overall employee experience could vary hugely from bank to bank, regardless of what the overall bank is like and can also change randomly. So this factor on top of the normal ebbs annd flows and consolidation of the industry means that you always have to keep your options open.

Community bank is your best bet, but you won’t be paid as well. All big banks su-k, and the 4 GSIBs are far worse. They have armies of offshore employees and large offices offshore in India and Manila. Jobs are routinely offshored and have been for years. I’ve worked at 2 of the 4 and they are all the same, I just move to make more money to get out younger.

@c1+1jjr9mm2z A. Roy and C. Kelso, just to name a few.

As for the accusations against GK, they aren’t just speculation—they are well-documented and fully justified. She is an uninspiring leader with zero empathy, and putting her in charge of delivering aggressive growth targets is a baffling decision. Since joining the bank in 2016, she hasn’t met plan a single time.

Apply that same logic to any other profession—would you board a plane knowing the pilot had crashed their last five flights? This isn’t leadership; it’s a disaster waiting to happen.

@by+1jjr9mm2z who are you referring as "McK alums", who are stacked in replacement of "dead weights"?

OP - banks and bankers by nature are not the noblest of professions or people so don't expect fairness or to be treated with respect and dignity. As someone else said Credit Union comes close but they still exist to run a business and survive by making some money (need to pay staff etc.) Maybe look for a different industry.

To the previous poster - that is a lot of accusations you are throwing at GK, do you have any specific examples on which leaders she replaced (and were the removed ones competent?) and what do you mean by leaving it at a worse state than when she assumed leadership of said team etc.?

BTW when you throw GK under the bus without giving her a chance what you are also saying is that you do not trust Andy's (AC) decisions. Based on that I would say we cannot get any worse as we all know AC's leadership really took this bank in the wrong direction.

GK has proven time and again that she is incapable of leading this organization to success. Over the past five years, she has failed to meet her goals even once. Her leadership style has been toxic—disregarding employees, mismanaging her division, and leaving it in worse shape than she found it. Now, as a McKinsey alum, she’s stacking her leadership team with former colleagues, prioritizing loyalty over competence.

From the outset, she made it clear she wanted to remove senior leaders she deemed “dead weight.” But instead of fostering a stronger organization, she simply replaced them with her McKinsey network, further entrenching a culture of favoritism.

At this point, it’s not about “giving her a chance”—it’s about addressing the deeply broken culture and critically low employee morale before it’s too late.

Her appointment as CEO is already proving to be a failure for employees, customers, and investors alike.

Check out a local credit union or community bank. I had a co-worker who was let go from USB, they found a job at a credit union. Sounds like they really enjoy the job and they are much happier than they were at USB.

They are all the same but I say at least give Gunjan a chance.

She might make things better than when Andy was sinking the ship

They are all the same unfortunately, especially all the big banks. I know people that worked or went to Wells or BOFA and they said it wasn’t any better, so same cr-p at most big banks because they all hire from McKinsey.

That’s why when one bank goes 3 days a week RTO, all the other follow, they all worked at McKinsey or went to same college
