Thread regarding Target Corp. layoffs

Sad thing is, we do have people who should be laid off

But we all know none of them will be affected. You all know who I'm talking about. People who barely do anything but are really good at a-s kissing and yes manning. I'm sure every team has at least one of them, and they've been here forever despite contributing the bare minimum. And they'll still be here after this round is done, while some great employees will be gone. Sad but true.

@c0 if you are talking about the person I think you are, that person does actually have a design degree, which they earned while working full time and complete before they they were promoted to that role.

Don't get me started! There are even people who aren't even qualified in my opinion to be doing the work that they are doing: anywhere else, they wouldn't be considered for their role. Only reason: favoritism and nepotism. Without giving away too much - I just recently learned of a receptionist/admin that is now a "designer" within PD&D with no design degree. There are people developing product at TGT that have no design background; even in managerial roles. But actual designers with the pedigrees are either pushed out or overlooked. No wonder we can't compete. And don't get me started on design "leadership" L7 and above. They all su-k, and are condescending towards the people doing the hard work. They are open about their disdain for the real creatives doing all the leg work to push out beautiful product, and if you complain about the "rework"; tough luck. IE: "You should be grateful to be working for Target. Su-k it up and work weekends.".

Everyone in a corporation is like this including the higher ups. Drinking the kool-aid.

A person I work with fits this description. Management is oddly protective of them despite significant skill gaps and low output. They’ve been shuffled around from team to team for nearly a decade, seemingly oblivious to the issues they create. They make six figures too.
