Is anyone else experiencing selection reps who yap on and on about their careers but don’t let you get a word in to learn about you so they can adequately represent you? I fear I’m really sc--wed, as mine just talked about himself for a solid 20 min of our 30 appt and provided very confusing feedback

@ec The time to kiss *ss has long expired. If you’re just now starting that charade, you’re toast.
@bz this was my experience in 1H. Network with everyone you can because that’s how jobs really get filled
Avoid SCM managers as they're pathogical liars.
Make sure you record the conversation, because they will change their tune after the selection. “You’re not qualified for this job”, it’s great for HR and the lawsuit.
If your selection rep is failing you, ask your supervisor to talk to job owners on your behalf. There is nothing that says they cannot.
I had the same problem with my selection rep, I could barely get a word in and I don’t think he read any of the information I sent him or my Talent card, also received very confusing feedback initially. However after I had other leaders reach out to him to provide feedback / advocacy behind the scenes he did a total 180. Hopefully he will represent me well going forward into the selection meetings. My advice is to do what you can to network and utilize people in your corner where you can, they may even be able to put a good word in with job owners. Hope this helps and best of luck for everyone.
Yes this is a core Chevron behavior. I've always been amazed how folks don't find a 30 second introduction sufficient to truly convey their importance, and they need to go on for 5, 10, 15, or even 30 minutes about themselves and everything they think they have accomplished.
Get out of the ABU
We may have had the same rep!
I scheduled 30 minutes with my rep and he went 25 of those minutes and then 15 minutes over giving his life story. All he could say was "You're strong for the job you're applying for" which was reassuring, but everything else was listening to a meek man talk about himself. I hope this means he knows I am a lock for my selection and didn't find it worthwhile to talk about strategy, opportunities, or anything helpful for myself.
Sorry you are experiencing this. My selection rep is very good… good listener, great advice. I am sure not everyone is cut out for the role.
I guess it comes down to this. If you hate the company, EOI. If not, do your best to land a job and at the very worst, you will get a severence. I’m not going to say that everyone who gets left standing deserves it. I’ve seen some really good people lose their jobs to this round. There is life after Chevron. It’s one company.
, I haven’t had that experience. My selection rep seems to be really good listener and a good guy.
