Thread regarding Open Text Corp. layoffs

fast-tracking performance reviews

Heard from the India team that Muhi Majzoub was in India last week. In a meeting with employees and presence of HR, he basically dropped hints that layoffs are coming down the pipeline soon.

Sounds like salary hikes are definitely getting delayed or might not even happen at all. On top of that, they're fast-tracking performance reviews right now to flag low performers before making the cuts.

Anyone got more details on this?

There are some signs that it's coming. Indeed, the hurry-up on reviews has come. Every deadline has been nudged up by at least a week... "we know the deadline is , but wants it by a week ahead of ."

On top of that, now comes the latest fun: since the wonderful new CEO made his smartass remarks in the quarterly all-hands about working on weekends, I know of at least one dev group that has been asked to work evenings and weekends, without recompense, from now until at least mid-August. You know that anyone who balks is getting short-listed for layoff.

At the end of 2020, about a week before the China team got collectively laid off, Muhi held an all-hands meeting. Since people had already caught wind of what was coming, someone asked him during the Q&A to clarify the rumors. Muhi flat-out said he hadn’t heard anything like that. I get that he couldn’t exactly be honest, but the way he pretended not to know made it impossible for people not to see him as a total liar.

On a side note, doesn’t it seem like Muhi’s been showing signs of early dementia for years? In meetings he often rambles on with these long, meaningless lists of examples just to explain stuff or make a point.

@dk Layers of slimey management is what OTEX is all about. Stockholders will be in for a rude awakening as the products die a slow death due to feckless management, and the generally useless COE teams. Some COE developers are OK, but overall they are horrible. Management is too incompetent to notice this.

The market might be catching on as OTEX is approaching its all-time low of $20.

It will eventually be 0. I suspect this will occur within a couple of years.
