AI isn't replacing us, not at this stage, anyway. I just read about a legal firm that filed a court case full of AI hallucinations. This is just a cover for offshoring and old-fashioned cuts while funneling money upward. Look, I'm not saying ignore AI. Learn it, experiment, see what it can do. Some jobs can be automated with deterministic algorithms. Scale helps. But announcing millions of jobs lost? That tells you everything about corporate greed and a broken economy, not some AI apocalypse.

Verizon is not intellectually equipped to address the ai market
Will AI replace humans? Not sure. Are companies like Verizon firing thousands of people to save money to bet all-in on AI replacing humans. Absolutely.
Hopefully it works better than what our nrb automation teams are doing. Sc--wing over the customers just to "cook the books" and make the stats look good for upper management.
AI WILL replace people, it's not a matter of if, it's a matter of when. I've been playing with claude and i can already see how it is possible to replace multiple people on our project by inserting claude for automating certain tasks, i just wouldn't give it the authority to do so. But i can see a manager suggesting it some day when they realize the same thing I do.
@by probably smelling blood in the water and thinking what a senile fella pretending to be a tough cowboy
@az that’s so true
@a2 yeah, but Dan isn't a credible player in this space. His interview at Davos was pure cringe. I wonder what the other Tech Bros make of him...?
Remember that AI makes up stuff when it doesn't have clear directions. That's our future.
Ai makes us more human just like miss post it notes says! She’s so human and authentic and inspiring and reads the room well. So grateful for her leadership!!! And she’s just getting started! Can’t wait for what’s next it’s so exiting ahhhh!!!!!
It doesnt matter whether AI can or cant replace us. All that matters is leadership thinks it can at some point so they layoff folks to either 1) fund the AI initiative and/or 2) Anticipate the remaining staff will use AI to do the work of those RIFd to survive the increased workload
@a2 well then if Dan said it, it MUST be true 🙄
@OP Read what Dan Shulman had to say about AI and job cuts. https://www.phonearena.com/news/verizon-ai-dan-schulman_id179771
