Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

The culture needs to change

People do not openly share information and communicate honestly about the architecture, design, testing, coding, etc. Hoarding knowledge is never good for the company. If everyone was to come together and work as if this was their own company, Intel would grow and beat competition. Internal teams competing against other internal teams, people within a team competing against each other to show management they know more then other teammates, etc. Open communication, sharing of information and knowledge, teaching one another, and coming together as one Intel instead of several hundred internal Intel's is what will grow the company. The culture needs to change drastically.

@lpt+1urXHtyH is 100% right.

Saying anything in the US and you risk being accused of a micro-aggression reported to HR. It's insane.

Israel vs Oregon has always been a thing and it was fostered for many years, the people in Oregon just didn't always realize it.

That said, I personally hate working with Israel. Absolute worst culture to deal with. Worst experiences in my career. I remember flying to Haifa locking ourselves in a conference room for 2 days on a huge negotiation/argument on some minor issues, just brutal. Every thing MUST be haggled on or argued just for the sake of it.

As for openness you feel like working with the military of a foreign government.

If you don't feel like praying during Intel meetings, something is wrong with you! :)

My team are collaborating with another BU team on a project where both managers have agreed upon. We were granted access to their SharePoint first week, not even a full week, out of a sudden our accesses were invoked. Later I learned that it’s the opposite manager idea, to take care of her team's job, but called out due to security concern, I was like WFH?! How are we collaborating without sharing the documents. We were told to only attend their meeting, yet they have a separate group chat to share information amongst themselves only. And also this bi--hy Malay girl acts like she’s the boss favorite girl, trying to show off her leadership makes me pu-e like fu-k.

@bxc+1uuciEdZ completely agree with you on this. SATG has very bad environment on this.

To be fair, there may be a reason folks are hesitant to share info. I've shared stuff several times only to have others take credit for it. Many intel employees have no problem with accepting kudos for somebody elses work. Far too many intel managers are clueless when this happens. Here's a hint, when somebody su-ks up and craves positive feedback, they typically don't have a problem skating on other's work.

Intel Israel has always been hostile in working relationships for a number of years. They will work on something and move onto the next. This culture is perhaps more apparent now that Intel is on the decline.

@rsi On top of that they would set their own priorities and schedules other projects be damned, even if their mistakes were holding up a product release. I remember waiting months for Israel Intel to fix a defect in a product they designed because they had already moved on to something else and couldn't be bothered.

They definitely march to the beat of their own drum.

He-l no I am not going to share knowledge. I worked my a-s off to learn what I know. Knowledge is power and I will horde power to myself.

Share disinformation.

Agreed, I haven't worked for a company before where the employees were so scared to share info. It's bad. People won't even show up for meetings so they don't have to educate others.

@kdu You are right. At least some Israeli teams seem like they are working for a competition. Withholding read access rights for MONTHS to a project they were told to share. Also blocking other things. This was my experience with Israeli teams, but honestly this exists in other organizations too. This is your Intel internal culture. Bunch of teams sabotaging each other, scared of losing projects to other teams and facing CPM.

This is 100% true, majority of employee are focused on themselves not Intel as a company, divided Intel will fall.

Intel Israel was notorious for not openly sharing information and communicating honestly when I was at Intel. In fact, they would cover up their mistakes and blame others for them. This led to many product release delays and a few innocent people lost their jobs.

Don't miss this nonsense at all.

Not going to happen. Taking credit for other people's work and throwing co-workers under the bus in order to make yourself look better is baked in to Intel's culture.

The fact that they promote techs to Management and then put them in charge of the very teams they were working with prior, shows this. They always begin by promoting their friends and holding back folks they don't like or know as well. This is how so many low performers get ahead while many solid, hard-working individuals get held back or leave Intel entirely. It's Management 101 stuff.....
