What's your prediction as it relates to the possiblity of Oracle layoffs? Any chatter, news or rumors?

@4dn Yes, its verified info. Just consuming time because Oracle doesn't find resources in Nashville.

@bx Is this anyhow verified info? Looks like it's end of January, and no layoff action taken yet.
What's wrong with LE?
@OP any updates/intel on looming RIF or large scale reorgs?
Heard today from a reliable source that a RIF is coming. Does anyone have details like potential date?
@bx who is we? Not saying you don't have insider knowledge but this sounds like a quite all knowing post. How exactly do you define an Org? Suspect I may be RIF in an up coming round. I am not super sad about the possibility.
Please note, we have not closed the books on 2025 yet!
LE has no vision. He is leading us all over a cliff.
O has just spent 1.6B on creating 16,000 anti sales reps, so they probably don’t care.
I find it odd that sales would be on the chopping block.
@dp
You must be new here. According to LE oracle products sell themselves. And none of this would be possible without LE's longtime "vision". Never, NEVER forget that.
@dp It’s bloated and lots of overlapping cr-p for one thing. There is also not enough incoming demand. A sales person is not going to call up a an AWS, gcp, or azure shop and convince them they should move over to oracle at scale.
@bx I find it odd that sales would be on the chopping block. O seems to perennially fall short of sales expectations every quarter. I don't see how riffing sales people will help meet Wall St's sales expectations. But what do I know? I'm not a billionaire.
Magic 8 ball states .... layoffs will continue, there will be no focal again and those who remain will be told "you are lucky to still have a job, but you are central to our success and we really appreciate your hard work".
Sales and Marketing are definitely on the chopping block. We’re expecting a minimum of 11,000 to 13,000 layoffs if India is included. If they focus mostly on the U.S., the headcount is lower (maybe 5,600 to 8,600). Remember, cutting one mid-level dev in the States saves as much cash as letting go of five people in India.
Considering such a large number across geographies, we expect 2-3 short cycles of layoffs starting from mid Jan and ending by March or April 1st week. Expect 1-2 executives (specially people mgrs) and 3-5 IC's to leave per org at minimum.
The only savior is the new expected H-1B rule to increase salary if it kicks in, could save a lot of local jobs. The decision is already done at top level and are not finalized.
My expected count is around 900-1200 executives globally and 1900 -2700 middle managers and IC5's. IC and M1/m2's around 4500-6000. Numbers might vary based on top mgmt trying to save their employees.
If you expected to be target for previous layoff, you will be now in the queue.
No one will be left to do the actual work. Management will be left wondering what happened to the numbers on many areas. Even the stock prices are going down.
Plan for it now. MAYBE you won't be, but have some kind of plan in place.
I predict that you will be laid off in the next RIF. HTH
