This pending RIF is only the beginning. Many more coming in June.

@kp I have never heard of "low performers" not being offered a severance package in a layoff, at ORCL or any other large firm. Of course, you have to sign on the dotted line to get it in some jurisdictions

@cj True while low performers may not receive a severance package. I know an individual* in the last layoff that was designated 'low performer' and received a severance package. Of course, that does not guarantee anything in future layoffs.

(*The low performer designation was completely unfounded.)

@cj Big firms like O rarely "fire for cause". It is easier to toss the deadwood into the layoff pile and simply say "the position was eliminated". They then dangle the severance agreement for you to sign, where to give up your right to sue for wrongful termination.

How many impacted in June?

@ca , Remember these will be performance layoffs and it is not mandatory to pay for performance layoffs. Only RIF's or mass layoffs are counted for Severance. With the cash crunch Oracle has, it can take any position with Performance layoffs.
More over the demand of work Oracle has on its employees and the hikes/growth it doesn't make sense to stay for ever.

@ah No severance?
That would be really interesting and would open Oracle up to lawsuits.
(But it would free up lots of $$$$$, which is the goal.)

@bf, @bh, @bw
since you doom-scroll this MB I'm sure you understand that you have to be prepped with emergency savings, updated cv and skills/career refresh strategy so you have absolutely nothing to worry about. You are prepared and don't need to live on this board any more.

@bj maybe, maybe not. the only fact so far is that you post the same thread about layoffs starting right now every single day. you cried wolf too much times several weeks ago already. at this point it's just pathetic.

@bg what denial? You vomit out threads every single day for over a month about layoffs starting right now, or ray after. You made any rumor worthless.

The level of denial here by remaining emps is shocking. You think they finally would have learned by now.

@ah Where did you hear that, about no severance starting in June?

The layoff in June depends on upcoming layoff's , performance of employees and cost. March results will determine that.
June will be worse as you won't get Severance.
