Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

What’s the REAL difference?

What’s the real difference between us giving a company notice and them giving us notice? We choose to work there, and either side decides how long it lasts. When you look at it that way, and realize nothing’s really owed beyond that choice, the frustration and anger kind of lose their grip. Just trying to help!

I know it’s not great to be let go or be told to be in office for X hours, but at the end of the day they are paying you for your time! Not the other way around!

It's policy for all domestic employees, so until that changes, yes it is "owed". Start writing this checks Charlie.

@op , but that eliminates the good feeling of rage.

This is human nature and is readily displayed in surveys where X # or drivers are asked how good of a driver are they compared to others. A majority of those questioned rate themselves better than the others. A statistically impossible fact.

It’s the exact same with employment here and is the definition of Freedom. We freely chose to be employed here, Wells has the legal right to change the terms of our employment at-will. Granted some changes require concessions from one side or the other but literally anything can be changed. And it is a simple mathematical calculation that when it is no longer in your favor you exit the equation.

The problem at Wells is that you have so many people who have been here far too long that they are institutionalized and have an over inflated sense of self-worth. So everything that we’ve lost was “owed” to them and now they are being cheated. Severance is “owed” to them as if it’s some bonus they earned. Delusional.

@a9 yeah, but the only thing they can do is hold back in rated deferred and blackball you from getting rehired.

As an employee, we have lawful rights before they just terminate you. But we can up and quit with no issue. I'm assuming most people here don't have deferred and don't care about coming back

depending on your office title you have to give notice of 30 days +. As an Executive Director I have to give 60 days so I guess that means I have 60 days to find a new job when I quit.

With 60 day WARN, at least you have time to look, right ? Unless, you are terminated for cause of course.
