Thread regarding Walgreens layoffs

Why do you stay at Walgreens?

1. Do you feel like there aren’t better opportunities out there for you?
2. Are you actively looking but still job hunting?
3. Are you just going with the flow and not really thinking about it?
4. Or do you have hope that the company will turn around?

All these people either newly joining, or now being promoted with artificial titles is sad. So many good employees being let go, yet others being given paper titles as a way to retain them. The ship is sinking....leave or go down with it. Titles at a has been company mean nothing. Have some pride........

@jn True. Walgreens is only a shell of what it once was. It went from a $100 billion market cap company to a $10 billion salvage project, much of which happened under Roz Brewer's "leadership" but that "Happy and Healthy" ship sailed when Greg Wasson was at the helm. Let's not forget "Rewire for Growth". When I started in the late 2000''s, the company culture was already garbage.

Walgreens is a shell of what it used to be and how it used to operate. Those who stay are either there because they have to be (don't have better choices) or because they simply don't care who they work for. This company is no longer on the corner of "Happy and Healthy".....that ship sailed the day they hired Roz Brewer.

People have left Walgreens.

Stores used to have at last four times as much staff as they do now. That's a 75% cut at least. And, I'd say 90% of people who used to work at stores are gone.

The problem is, when someone leaves, another person gets hired. It's not reasonable to expect that zero people will get hired once someone decides to leave.

Grapes are sour. It is sad that the person was let go. That person misses Walgreens so much that keeps coming here.

I don't take "self" pride based on your assessment of the company I work for. Get your head out of your re---m and maybe you can begin to comprehend.

I have self pride every time I go to the grocery store and can provide for my family. Work is work and I'm fine here at Walgreens. Also enjoy having a roof over my head. Big companies and not warm and fuzzy anymore. Smaller companies are better but have their issues too. The weekend will be here before you know it, and Walgreens even pays for my PTO when I need to take off. Again I'm fine!

Why are people staying at walgreens? Pretty simple. No other company would hire them so they go to walgreens...as walgreens will hire basically anything. It's just a fact, some will be defensive about it. But if they want a career or a descent paying job they would be elsewhere...but as I said no one hires them. And why would anyone that has talent stay with a sinking ship. Pretty obvious. And for the ones saying staying at walgreens because you get the discount or to say it is an easy paycheck says plenty about what I just said.. Why would you stay with a fraud company that has wasted billions and billions on fines? No self pride.

@OP How could there be any better opportunities than Walgreens? Outstanding leadership, cutting edge technology, best in class customer service, so much opportunity for career growth, incredible medical benefits just to name a few! The employee discount alone makes staying with Walgreens totally worth it. Above all, Walgreens is an amazing company that truly cares about its employees!

  1. Because of the incompetence and poor leadership of those around me, I've been able to greatly reduce the work I need to do and the effort I need to expend. Why bail on easy paycheck after easy paycheck?
